All Three Glasgow Volleyball Teams Beat Glendive, Harlem
The Scottie volleyball teams wrapped up its final two matches of the regular season with big wins from all three teams.
The season itself hasn't come to an end, though. You can catch the Scotties in action at 3 p.m. Friday in Wolf Point as it takes on the winner of the Poplar-Wolf Point match during the 2-B District Tournament. The Scotties are the top seed.
On Saturday, neither the drive to Glendive, nor the fact that it was their senior night, nor the huge crowd that packed the Red Devil gymnasium deterred the Scotties from their winning ways.
"Sure makes a long drive home more pleasant," quipped elated coach Lori Dailey. "All three teams were efficient and driven tonight. The C squad won in three games, JV took five games but still had a great win, and the varsity team rocked their match in three straight games, 25-18, 25-14, 25-17."
Megan Dailey led in kills and digs, JoLynn Reyling racked up all but one of the team's 21 assists, and Sadie Sukut piled up five blocks on the night.
Team depth is what really makes the Scotties a good team, though.
"Leading in stats is an obvious sign of a good match, but we had depth within each category and that's really where our strength lies," coach Dailey said. "I am extremely happy with how we played tonight."
Harlem came to town on Saturday afternoon, and it was more of the same good fortune for the Scotties. Playing through the emotion of their final regular-season match and honoring their seniors, all three teams were victorious once again.
"The emotion that Senior Night brings has the potential to either derail a team or push them through to a strong finish. Thankfully we finished strong," coach Dailey said.
Playing their final volleyball match of the season at GHS were Megan Dailey, Abby Dalbey, Haylee Redfield, JoLynn Reyling, Mariah Stein and Sage Sukut.
"I've been blessed with such a terrific group of seniors this year! They are extraordinarily coachable, avid learners and very capable athletes," praised Coach Dailey. "I am so sad to see their time here coming to an end!"
