Scotties Roll To 3-1; It's No. 6 GHS Hosting No. 7 Malta
Glasgow's stingy defense was too much for Harlem in last week's 35-0 victory. So was the offense, for that matter.
Homecoming 2013 was a huge success. The Glasgow Scotties took on the Shelby Coyotes and pounded them pretty hard, 42-9. The Scotties were on fire from start to finish.
Following the big homecoming win against Shelby, the Scotties traveled to Harlem and took on the Harlem Wildcats. They were victorious, 35-0,and the Scotties are now 3-1 and ranked No. 6 in the Montana Class B football poll.
The Scotties had nearly identical numbers in both total passing (178) and rushing yardage (178) against Harlem's defense for an unofficial total of 356 yards.
They couldn’t have succeeded without their standouts, All-State player Johnathon Koessl, quarterback Jason Thibault, linebacker Tanner Roness and defensive end Jared Smith. Koessl rushed for two touchdowns, then caught a screen pass and raced 54 yards for his third touchdown. While at quarterback, Thibault completed seven of nine passes, with one interception and three touchdowns to Koessl, Keil Krumwiede (40 yards) and Chase Fossum (2 yards).
Defensively, the Scotties were led by the play of inside linebacker Roness and defensive end Jared Smith. The Scotties held a much improved Harlem team scoreless for their first shutout of the season while surrendering 177 yards on defense. On another note, Pablo Pascual, Hinsdale’s new exchange student from Spain, was five of five on PAT’s and had two rushes for 14 yards.
This upcoming week, Hinsdale’s second exchange student, Valentin Robert, from France will be eligible to play for the Scotties as another kicker and running back (which should be a reason in itself to come watch them).The Scotties are gearing up this week to host rival Malta, ranked No. 7 in Class B, for a tough, but hopefully successful 2B conference game matchup on Friday night at Scottie Field. Hope to see you all in the grandstands this Friday night, wearing red and white, and cheering on your Scotties!
