Ethel Marion (Hinerman) Maki of Cascade, Mont ., died Tuesday, Sept 17, 2013, after a period of illness, from Scleroderma complications following knee surgery.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel, followed by a reception for family and friends at Schnider Funeral Home in Great Falls.
She attended Bozeman University of Montana where she received her degree in nursing and worked in hospitals in Great Falls as supervisor and special nursing. She was very proud of her son, Ken Clark, a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. He would send her flowers and ‘Fruit of the Month,” and she would bake him cookies.
She loved animals, especially Jake their dog, Peaches her cat, and all birds. She fed and cared for every cat that showed up for dinner. She had bird feeders outside her kitchen and dining room windows. She loved to dress-up Jake and Lloyd for Halloween. Peaches loved to lie on her bed, and was great company, especially while Ethel was ill.
She loved to go to live plays and movies, and especially loved to travel, having visited Europe several times and many areas of the USA, always visiting the various museums and galleries to satisfy her quest to learn and to experience. She would visit her sister in Seattle to attend operas and the symphony for “some culture.” She loved music and books, had a great memory and was good at writing. She had a zest for life and adventure. She accepted her fate with grace and dignity.
Dearest Mother, Wife, Sister, and Aunt, you are gone too soon. We love you and will miss you always.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dean Maki, who died shortly after birth, and baby Maki, who died before birth; her father and mother, William Ray and Anna Hinerman of Larslan.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Maki; one son, Ken, and his wife, Sheila Clark, of Leesburg, Va .; three sisters, Norma Jean Grossman and her husband, Bruce, of Seattle, Wash ., Ilene Hanson and her husband, Jim, of Whitefish, and Alice Hinerman of Glasgow; two brothers, Sam Hinerman of Larslan and Ray Hinerman and his wife, Lenore, of Glasgow; one niece, LaMona Lee Hanson of Kalispell; and one nephew, Neal James Hinerman, of Venice Beach, Calif.
