Margie M. Squires
Margie M Squires died Monday, on Aug. 5, 2013, at Billings Clinic in Billings, Mont., after an extensive battle with breast and lung Cancer.
She was born July 17, 1947, in Glasgow, to Jack Fighter and Emma Redd. In 1968, she married her dear friend, Gene Lonz, where they lived on the Glasgow Air Force Base.
She graduated from Carroll College in Helena, with a double bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. She returned home to Wolf Point where she worked as a social worker for Fort Peck Tribes. She then went on to work for 23 years as a health and disability coordinator for the Fort Peck Head Start program.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Jack Fighter and Emma Redd; two stepfathers, Ralph Beauchman and Clifford Squires; two brothers, Emmett Buckles and Marvin Squires; and two sisters, Eloise Squires and Nurna Squires.
Survivors include two children, Cindy Lee “Dolly” Lonz and Mark Warren Lonz and his wife, Tammy, of Wolf Point; one brother, Denzel Squires, of Wolf Point; one sister, Vonda Brewster and her husband, Larry, of Billings; seven nieces, Leigh Melborne, Becky Restum and her husband, Scott, Rynette Martinez, Sonia Hawk and her husband, David, Kelly Azure, Pearl Buckles and her husband, Larry, and Jodi Buckles; three nephews, Emmett Buckles Jr., Matthew Buckles and Kevin Squires; 39 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and adored; family members, Terry Thompson, Connie Gourneau, Laura, Ross and Blaze Bleazard, Dave Rossi, Teresa Romo, Nate Moleni, Simi Wolfgramm, Mark Maiava Jr., Brandon Roth, Ron Fio, Johnny Kavanga, Elder Villejo and Elder Mamea.
A memorial service was held at Oswego Community Hall on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m., followed by interment in the Chicken Hill Cemetery in Wolf Point.
Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
