Annette Yvonne White Eagle Boxer

 

Annette Yvonne White Eagle Boxer, 72, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Mont.

She was born March 11, 1941, in Poplar, and graduated from Brockton High School in 1959. After graduating, she attended Montana State University in Bozeman and was in the Bobcat Marching Band from 1959 to 1960.

She started working in June 1961 for the Fort Peck Tribes, Fort Peck Housing, Brockton School, Poplar School, IHS and Bureau of Indian Affairs, and retired Sept. 3, 2010, due to medical problems from a motor vehicle accident.

On July 14, 1969, she married Leonard Boxer. Her hobbies were embroidery, gardening, and decorating her home and yard. Her favorite saying was, “Why can’t we all get along?” She also enjoyed basketball and watching her son and two grandsons play.

She was a descendent of two Sioux Chiefs, Chief Sitting Bull and Chief Medicine Bear.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Annie Eagle; her husband, Leonard Boxer; two brothers, Thurman and Kenny White Eagle; one grandchild, Robert Graham; and one great-grandchild, Zaiden Boxer.

Survivors include three children, Lizabeth Graham, Russell Boxer and his wife, Francine, and Lisa Ergberg and her husband, Doug, all of Fort Kipp; grandchildren, Miles Boxer and his wife, Lamoya, Lenny Boxer and his wife, Jen, Kristie Boxer, Jacob Graham and Russell Boxer Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Miles Boxer Jr., Rylie Boxer and Easton Boxer; two sisters, Trivian Grainger and Janice Johnson and her husband, Woody, of Polar; an adopted brother, Victor Berry; and extended families, the Black Dogs, Firsts, and Fourbears.

A vigil service was held Sunday, July 28, at 7 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, all services at Our Lady of Lourds Catholic Church in Poplar. Interment was in the Boxer family cemetery in Brockton.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
