Youth Fishing Tournament Reels In Record Number Of Kids

Shelly George, coordinator for Scheels Youth Fishing, reports that in 2013 a record number of 165 kids participated in the Scheels Youth Fishing Tournament at the kids fishing ponds at Kiwanis Park at Fort Peck.

Another record was the 241 fish caught.

The event started out with a casting clinic provided by the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

The kids ranged from ages 1 to 14 years. Everyone walked away with a free T-shirt, a goody bag, and a fishing tackle box with tackle provided by Scheels.

Scheels also provided 50 fishing poles to be given away as prizes. Each group had 10 poles given as prizes.

Everyone had a fun time, ending the day with lunch provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and free Bergie’s ice cream provided by a grant from Shopko.
