James Walter McLaurin II

James Walter McLaurin II, 66, died from a heart attack Friday, July 5, 2013, at his home in Glasgow, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at the Bell Chapel in Glasgow. There will be a private interment at a later date.

He was born on April 7, 1947, in San Diego, Calif., the son of James Walter McLaurin I, a career Marine officer, and lived in many places as a child, including California, Alaska and Hawaii.

He graduated from Columbia Falls Community College and earned his degree in automotive school in Phoenix, Ariz. He served with the U.S. Marines.

On July 7, 1971, he married Cherylen Schroeder in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.

He played softball as a young adult and all through automotive school. Playing pool was his passion. As a child, he would use his school picture money and skip school to play pool.

Survivors include two sons, James Walter McLaurin III and Levi McLaurin, both of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Kory, Fallon and James Dwayne of Glasgow; and two step-sons, Dwayne Smith of Brady, Mont., and Chad Smith of Glasgow.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
