Helen Pauline (Bury) Hicks, 87, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, of natural causes at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the Bell Chapel in Glasgow, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

She was born on June 22, 1925, in Browerville, Minn., the daughter of Anthony and Josephine Bury. She was raised in various places in in North Dakota and Montana. She worked as a nurse’s aide prior to her marriage.

She settled in Glasgow after meeting and marrying the love of her life, John Hicks, in Watford City, N.D., on June 27, 1948. They built a home in the Cherry Creek Subdivision where they lived from 1957 to 2007. In 2007 she moved into Prairie Ridge and she has resided at Valley View since December 2009.

She worked as a BN wife and mother, raising her family. She belonged to St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society, BN Gals, and VFW Auxiliary. She loved to fix hair at Valley View and enjoyed serving lunch at Senior Citizens. She wintered with John in Arizona for many years. She also loved cribbage, cards, her flowers, snickers and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband John; one son, Jimmy; five brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Andy Hicks and his wife, Paula, of Glasgow, Alan Hicks and his wife, Diane, of Laurel, and Larry Hicks and his wife, DeDee, of Glasgow; grandchildren, Leah Miller and her husband, Nate, Bridget Sholley and her husband, Justin, Nate Hicks and his wife, Kristi, Jon Hicks and his wife, Stacie, Autumn Hicks, Jennifer Brandt and her husband, Tyrel, and Logan Hicks and his wife, Tara; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cyrila Parr, formerly of Great Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
