Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 6 game wardens are seeking any information regarding a mule deer buck that was shot and left to waste about 15 miles southwest of Opheim, on the junction of Kerr Road and Golden Valley Road in Valley County. On July 12, the Glasgow FWP office received a call concerning a dead deer observed near the road. Glasgow-area Boy Scout Troop 861 and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks fisheries staff will be placing Christmas tree habitat structures at the Fort Peck Trout Pond in the coming weeks. Bundles of Christmas trees will be placed on the ice where they will remain until melting causes them to fall through and settle to the bottom. Ranchers, farmers, irrigators and Native Americans have given a resounding thumbs down to a planned increase, then reduction, in water flow next year from Fort Peck Dam. The Montana Senate voted on party lines to reject the appointment of Andrew McKean of Valley County to the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission on Feb. 19. Dear Editor, My name is Ron Garwood, I am a 17 year supervisor of the Valley County Conservation District from Nashua. I am also a member of the FWP’s CAC from region 6. I have been hunting since 1957 on private CMR (Fort Peck Game Range) state lands and BLM lands. I believe the APR’s request to the BLM to allow the APR to be able to take out cross fences on BLM and state lands and to be able to run up to 1,600 bison on the Timber Creek grazing unit in Valley County in one large pasture is ridiculous.
