It's been roughly over two decades since Glasgow lost its Christmas tree located downtown. The tree used to sit in the middle of the street on 2nd Ave. S and 4th St. S. A manhole was uncovered and a pot the city created to place the tree in helped hold the tree in place. The Tri-Agency Drug Force and the Valley County Sheriff's Office reported that they made a bust after an intense investigation came to a close on Monday, Nov. 10. After a search warrant was conducted at 587 BIA Route 1, the task force located Shon Wilcox, who had approximately 4.5 pounds of pot, methamphetamine, prescription pills and numerous paraphernalia items that were located in a camper, utility trailer and a pickup. The highly charged debate surrounding the Keystone XL Pipeline, which could heavily impact Valley County, found approval and rejection in a week's time. Last week on Friday, Nov. 14, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill of approval for the pipeline, 252 to 161. Rep. A milestone event is nearing for the new wildlife exhibit at the Children's Museum of Northeast Montana, a downtown Glasgow destination attraction in the making for young and not-so-young outdoors enthusiasts. The Ice Dawg Squirts traveled to Havre for a pair of games this weekend. Leading up to the games there was both excitement and nervousness for the five returning and eight new Squirts. The first period was hectic as they worked to establish rhythm. Colter Barnett started the scoring in the first, adding another short handed goal on a penalty kill. Eastern Montana might see a little more representation in the state House. Rep. Austin Knudsen, R, District 34, was selected as speaker of the Montana House on Wednesday, Nov. 12. With Obamacare in full effect some of the kinks have been worked out in the last year on the federal Marketplace site for insurance. When January rolls around consumers will start to see how taxes will be effected by the new healthcare bill that went into effect last year. This was written based off comments that have been expressed at meetings across the state. Fish, Wildlife, and Parks put wild and free roaming bison on a refuge, but there was nothing to keep them there. The refuge was rugged and had undesirable forage and poor water. Bison prefer flatter ground and better food, so the bison crossed the road. The bison found private property that had been managed by the same family for over 100 years. This seems to be another week for a this and that column. For the past several months we've been attending Nashua volleyball games and the JAM basketball games as our granddaughter plays volleyball and we have two grandsons playing basketball. The time all these athletes have spent in practice was quite evident in their games. And I was impressed by the team work and sportsmanship displayed. A sports expert I'm not, but I feel that in a couple of years, the boys' JAM basketball team is going to be a tough team to go up against. Congratulations...

Olga Grant, 96, dies from natural causes Nov. 9 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Family services will be held later in the summer of 2014. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow. She was born on the family farm in the Grain community north of Nashua, daughter of Mikal and Bergit Torgerson.
