Sam Sylvester

After several months of suffering from cancer, the Good Lord welcomed Sam Sylvester, 72, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at his home south-east of Glasgow.

He was born to Sam and Gladys Sylvester in Glasgow on Nov. 3, 1940. He spent most of his life farming and ranching. He married Joyce Christensen on Nov. 4, 1969. He was the proud father of three children: Rock, Shawn and Tara.

He was a member of the Elks, Jaycees, Toastmasters, Investment Club, Farm Bureau, Valley County Sheriffs Reserve, Army National Guard, a 4-H Teacher, and worked for the Montana Department of Livestock. He attended two years of law school through LaSalle University.

He took over the family farm after the passing of his father in 1959, the year he graduated, and continued farming until his death.
