| A year after winning the 24th annual Governor’s Cup, Glasgow’s Craig Hallock is only looking to have fun. But it doesn’t mean he isn’t going to defend his title as well as he can. The 25th annual Governor’s Cup starts on Thursday, July 12, and goes through Saturday, July 14. Events include a Guy’s and Gal’s Tournament, a Youth Fishing Derby, the Friday Fish with the Dirty Shame Band and two nights of Calcutta. But the prize is the Governor’s Cup, of course. Last year, Hallock and his partner Dallas Smith of Atkin, Minn. grabbed first with a weight of 36.71 pounds. Hallock and Smith will reunite this year to defend their first title in the Governor’s Cup. Hallock has fished the tournament 22 times and has placed in the money several times, including second place. Smith and Hallock have fished the cup before but last year was the first time in several years. And it did not start out very well. The duo was unable to catch many fish the first day as they only accumulated a little more than three pounds the first day. The second day started even worse as boat problems caused them to lose almost four hours of fishing. But it turned around quickly as they were able to get the boat started and move locations. With an hour, they were able to reel in 33 pounds worth of fish to give them the tournament win. Click Here To See More Stories Like This |
