NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be publicly opened and read on Wednesday, June 6th, 2012, at 4:00 pm (MT) at the Council Chambers, Town Hall, located at 110 Nelson Street, Saco, MT 59261 for School Sidewalks – Saco, SRTS 36(25), UPN # 7482. Major work involved in the project consists of the following approximate quantities:
BASE BID – Vagg Street from Blue Street to Stevens Street & Walnut Street The major work involved in this project consists of the following approximate quantities; – Mobilization, taxes, insurance, bonds, removal of existing sidewalk, installation of approximately 293 S.Y. of new 4” concrete sidewalk, 42 S.Y. of new 6” concrete driveways, installation of 4 ADA accessible handicap ramp, sub-grade preparation, 6” crushed base course aggregate, and other miscellaneous and incidental work to complete the project.
BASE BID ADDITIVE No. 1 – Vagg Street from HWY 243 to Blue Street The major work involved in this project consists of the following approximate quantities; – Mobilization, taxes, insurance, bonds, removal of existing sidewalk, installation of approximately 220 S.Y. of new 4” concrete sidewalk, 40 S.Y. of new 6” concrete driveways, installation of 1 ADA accessible handicap ramp, sub-grade preparation, 6” crushed base course aggregate, and other miscellaneous and incidental work to complete the project.
BASE BID ADDITIVE No. 2 – Vagg Street from Stevens Street to First Street The major work involved in this project consists of the following approximate quantities; – Mobilization, taxes, insurance, bonds, removal of existing sidewalk, installation of approximately 189 S.Y. of new 4” concrete sidewalk, 48 S.Y. of new 6” concrete driveways, installation of 2 ADA accessible handicap ramp, sub-grade preparation, 6” crushed base course aggregate, and other miscellaneous and incidental work to complete the project.
BASE BID ADDITIVE No. 3 – Fourth Avenue from First Street to Second Street The major work involved in this project consists of the following approximate quantities; – Mobilization, taxes, insurance, bonds, removal of existing sidewalk, installation of approximately 198 S.Y. of new 4” concrete sidewalk, 22 S.Y. of new 6” concrete driveways, installation of 2 ADA accessible handicap ramp, sub-grade preparation, 6” crushed base course aggregate, and other miscellaneous and incidental work to complete the project.
All specified work in connection with the School Sidewalks - Saco project for Town of Saco shall be done in accordance with the plans, specifications and other contract documents on file in the office of Town Hall, Saco, Montana 59261. Bids must be sealed and delivered to the Town Clerk’s office, 110 Nelson Street Saco, MT 59261 at or before 4:00 pm (MT), Wednesday, June 6th, 2012, and marked “School Sidewalks - Saco – SRTS 36(25) UPN #7482.” Your bid must clearly identify the project to which it is directed and must clearly stipulate that it is a bid for construction of the above-referenced project. Bid security in the amount of not less than ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, which shall be: (1) – lawful money of the United States, or (2) – a cashier’s check, certified check, bank money order or bank draft drawn and issued by a federally chartered or state chartered bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or (3) a bid bond executed by a surety corporation authorized to do business in the State of Montana, must accompany each bid. The money or, in lieu of money, the bank instruments or bid bonds must be payable directly to Town of Saco. The successful bidder will be required to hold its bid open for a period of 60 days following the opening and to enter into a formal contract if awarded the bid and to furnish good and sufficient performance and payment bonds to secure the performance of the terms and conditions of the contract. Failure to enter into a formal contract will result in forfeiture of the bid security. Contractors must be registered with the Montana Department of Labor and Industry prior to executing a contract for construction on this project. All laborers and mechanics employed by contractors or subcontractors in performance of the construction work shall be paid wages at rates as may be required by the laws of the State of Montana and the United States Government. Forms for registration are available from the Department of Labor and Industry, P.O. Box 8011, 1805 Prospect, Helena, Montana 59604-8011. Information on registration can be obtained by calling 1-406-444-7734. Plans, specifications, bidding and contract forms may be inspected at the following locations: Town Clerk’s office, 110 Nelson Street, Saco, MT 59261 and Interstate Engineering, Inc., 425 East Main Street, Sidney, Montana. Copies of these documents may be obtained by a payment of $35.00, which is non-refundable, with Interstate Engineering, Inc., P.O. Box 648, Sidney, MT, 59261 (406-433-5617) for each set desired. Any bid submitted by an individual contractor or combination of contractors acting as a joint venture must display this immediately following the signature and address of the bidder. Failure to comply with this stipulation will render the bid incomplete, and it will not be read. Any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement is subject to all applicable Federal Laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. All bids shall contain a statement showing that the bidder or contractor is not presently working beyond the contract time, including authorized time extensions on any previously awarded public contract project. The bidder must supply all the information required by the bid or proposal form and are advised that contractors or subcontractors may be required to maintain an affirmative action program under applicable federal laws. It is a condition of this contract and shall be made a condition of each subcontract entered into pursuant to this contract that the contractor and any subcontractor shall not require any laborer or mechanic employed in performance of the contract to work in surroundings or under working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to his health or safety, as determined under construction safety and health standards. The Owner requires all Contractors submitting a bid provide workers compensation coverage on all individuals (owners, employees, joint venture partners, or subcontractors) associated with the project. Town of Saco hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or National origin in consideration for an award. No bidder may withdraw his bid within sixty (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, to waive any defect or informality in any bid therein, and to accept the bid which the Town determines to be the lowest responsible bid.
