Two men have been convicted in separate trials for kidnapping and assaulting a woman in Glasgow last August.
The woman was tied up, cut on the wrist with a knife and burned with cigarettes. According to court documents, the men threatened to kill her by throwing her in the Milk River. She was forced to drive them to Kalispell in her car. There she managed to tell a motel clerk that she was in trouble and the men were arrested.
Another woman was assaulted two days before these events. The same men pushed a sewing needle into her knee. They said she needed to learn to control her pain.
After a six-day trial, a jury deliberated for three and a half hours Monday and found Richard Joseph Jenkins, 37, guilty of five charges, including kidnapping, assault with a weapon, two counts of assault and intimidation.
One of the defense attorneys for Jenkins, Frank Piocos, said in an email, “It was our defense that the individuals involved engaged in sado-masochistic activities that got out of hand on that August weekend.”
Valley County Attorney Nickolas Murnion said it the first time that DNA evidence has been used during a trial in the county.
Jenkins will be sentenced in District Court on June 4.
Dustin Corby Red Dog, 24, pleaded guilty to one felony count of kidnapping and was sentenced April 2 to 10 years in prison. He must register as a violent offender and pay restitution of $21,728.
