It was a great day for football as the Glasgow Scotties hosted the Huntley Red Devils for the third round of postseason games. The fans streamed into the stands and prepared for what was promising to be a battle of the defensive lines. A battle indeed it started out to be.

Each team moved each other back and forth to gain field advantage. The Red Devils started the game early with penalties and personal fouls that would hinder their drive to the red zone. The Scotty defense battled hard to keep the Red Devils from making any big plays for the first seven minutes of the game. In turn, the Red Devils did the same to the Scotty offense, keeping them from the end zone and the scoreboard blank.

As the teams headed to the locker rooms, the halftime score was 26-0, Huntley. Fans could only imagine what was going on inside the teams and coaches minds during the break. People speculated that the Huntley coach was correcting the penalty behavior, while the Scotties were trying to figure out a different plan of attack to get on the scoreboard.

The second half of the game saw a turn around on the penalty side of things. The Scotties had their fair share of laundry on the field as frustrations mounted. The loss of Aaron Hartsock and Zach Remus for the remainder of the game played heavy on the minds of the Scotty players as they tried to step up and fill the gap on the field. Huntley was able to expose a few weaknesses and added a few more points to the scoreboard. The final score, Huntley 54, Glasgow 0.

As with all playoff games, two quality teams march onto the field, but only one can move on victorious to the next level. This was the first time in 10 years that the Scotties have made it to the semi-final level. Watch to see how they do next year as they go into the season more prepared and wanting to push past to the State level.

Glasgow finished the season in fourth place, and were awarded their trophy at the conclusion of the game. The Scotty senior players made their final 100-yard walk across the field for the last time.

At the beginning of the game, a moving gesture by the Huntley Project coaches and players, it was announced that the Red Devils held a fundraiser at their school and donated $900 to the Steven Jimison fund.
