| Coming off a thrilling game against Malta, the Glasgow football team needed a win against Wolf Point in order to secure the top spot in the District 2B conference standings. The stakes were high on the game. With a win, the Scotties would be the only team left in conference that hadn't dropped a league game. If they lost, there could be a potential three-way tie between Glasgow, Malta and Wolf Point for first place at the end of the year. But any suspense there may have been before the game was quickly taken away, as the Scotties handily put the game out of reach in the first half. “I'm just so pleased how our kids responded,” head coach Dan Dale said. “We had a big win last week but we struggled. But man, they came out and really established a real solid running game. I was so proud of our offensive linemen. I told them to just let the skill guys go, do your job up front and those guys will take off.” The Scotties scored six touchdowns in the first half, five on runs, stretching the score out to 39-0 at halftime, a margin so large that the mercy rule was put into play, forcing a running clock in the second half. Kirk Capdeville ran for three of the touchdowns in the first half, two on 1-yard dives and one on a 21-yard romp up the sidelines. Not to be outdone, Zach Remus had three touchdowns of his own, on 1- and 45-yard runs and a 35-yard interception return. “We just talked all week that it was very important to establish a strong running game,” Dale said. “We're still going to throw the ball, and we tried to do that a little bit in the second half … I wanted to throw some more, but we were so far ahead I wasn't trying to run the score up.” The second half saw many of the junior varsity and froshmore players on the sideline get some game time and even find the end zone as sophomore Chaz Gordon scored twice in the second half. Gordon got free on a 6-yard run and a 37-yard screen pass from Lane Capdeville, in which he beautifully set up his blockers so that he could get into open space. The Wolves finally put some points on the board when Zach Zilkowski got open on a slant and ran into the end zone from 15 yards out. By the time the final bell rang, Glasgow walked off the field with a 51-6 victory on Homecoming night. “We have to remember as a team that we can't be satisfied,” Dale said. “We have to keep working hard and doing what we're doing because as soon as we get satisfied we're going to take a step backwards.” Now 2-0 in conference and 5-1 overall, the Scotties have assured themselves of a playoff berth, but will need to take care of business against Harlem (0-3, 1-5) and Plentywood (1-1, 3-3) to secure home field in the playoffs.
