Ovidia A. Hayne

Ovidia A. (Eklund) Haynes, 86, a homemaker, died of natural causes on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at the Phillips County Hospital.

She was born March 9, 1923, on the family farm near Forks, Mont., the daughter of Gustav Arthur and Olga Andres (Anderson) Eklund. She attended schools in Forks and Whitewater and graduated from the Saco High School.
She married Charles L. Haynes on May 26, 1941, in Chinook. She was a lifelong Phillips County resident. She was a homemaker on the family farm and later in her life was a playground monitor at the Saco schools. She enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, visiting with neighbors and friends, and baking bread.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Haynes on Aug. 2, 1989; a son, Larry L. Haynes, on July 2, 1987; three brothers, Gunner, Bud and Wes Eklund; and a sister, Violet Anderson.

Survivors include her grandson, Bill Haynes, of Saco; two granddaughters, Kim Haynes of Grand Forks, N.D., and Robyn Haynes of Thief River Falls, Minn.; one brother, Mel Eklund, of Seattle, Wash.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Saco Methodist Church with burial in the Grandview Cemetery. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta was in charge of arrangements. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.
