Robert William Hurly

1922 - 2012

Published: Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

A lifelong resident of Valley County, Robert William Hurly, 89, died of natural causes suddenly Sunday morning, March 4, 2012, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, where he was born Sept. 14, 1922.

He was the son of Judge John T. Hurly and Jeanette Jamma Hurly.

Against his wishes, a funeral will be held at the Glasgow Elk's Club, Friday, March 9, at 3 p.m. with a light reception to follow. In accordance with his wishes, the family wants to remember and celebrate all the good memories of our time with him. The family would love to hear your stories about their extraordinary father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you affectionately make today a special memory for the people in your own life. As Robert often reminded his own family, “It’s later than you think.”

I worked for Robert Hurly as a legal secretary from l969 to l982 in Glasgow; I also completed my paralegal internship through his office.

He was the best boss I ever had, and I learned a great deal from him. If one word summoned up my memories of Robert it is that he was "kind". He had a remarkable common sense approach to life, his friends and family, and to his clientel. That along with his knowledge of law made him a great attorney.

I always looked forward to his Letters to the Editor in local newspapers throughout Montana; his last one 2 weeks ago was point on....again.

I will miss him, and I am appreciative of the many good discussions and times we and other office staff had together. Wanda Clark, Billings, Mt.
