Janet R. (Evenson) Schweigert

1932 - 2012

Published: Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Janet R. (Evenson) Schweigert, 79, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Billings Clinic Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1932, in Glasgow to Virgil and Hazel (Schwenke) Evenson. She attended elementary school in Fort Peck during the Fort Peck Dam Days and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1951.
She lived in several places throughout Montana and Wyoming before settling in Billings. She worked for Yellowstone County as an eligibility tech for 25 years before retiring in July 1997.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking and spending time with friends and family, especially her sisters-in-law, Arlene and Doris Schweigert. She never had a harsh word for anyone and was always there for her friends and family. Everyone especially liked her homemade apple pies and cookies, and looked forward to her baking too much so that there would be goodies to share.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marge Stensland; and one son, Kenneth Schweigert.
Survivors include three daughters, Tracy Stieferman and her husband, Dennis, of Missouri, Tamara and Lori Schweigert of Billings; five grandchildren, Chris and his wife, Mary, Sean and Jennifer Schweigert, Chad Stieferman and his wife, Kim, and Jamie Bax and her husband, Kyle; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
To celebrate her life, a memorial service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Smiths West Chapel in Billings.
