The only school trustee contests in Valley County this year were in Frazer and Hinsdale, and Frazer's was a lively one. Four candidates vied for two three-year seats in this Tuesday's election, and there were two contenders for a one-year position.

The winners of the three-year terms were the incumbents: Joseph Raining Bird Jr. with 108 votes and Jewel Four Star Ackerman with 91. William Runs Above had 37 votes and Yancey D. Beston got 35.

Dorian Talks Different beat Lillie M. Cox for the one-year term, 79 to 63.

Frazer voters approved the elementary school mill levy by a vote of 107 to 41. They also passed the high school mill levy 119 to 51. It should be noted that the vote of Lustre residents is included in the Frazer High School levy election in School District 2B. They voted against the levy 10 to 3.

In a separate election for the Lustre Elementary School, Lustre passed the $10,000 levy (6.5 mills) 17 to 9.

Brandon Reddig was elected a Lustre Elementary trustee by acclamation.

Hinsdale had three candidates running for two positions. The top two were Chris Christensen with 120 votes and Doni Bennett with 79 votes. Marjorie Capdeville received 47 votes.

Hinsdale voters passed a high school mill levy for $23,807.89 by a vote of 120 to 19. The wording of the levy specified that it would be permanent if approved.

In Glasgow, the vote was 361 to 248 in favor of a mill levy of $48,435.58.

Dr. Charles Wilson was re-elected by acclamation to the Glasgow School Board.

Nashua and Opheim had no elections. In Nashua's case, the unchallenged incumbent, Carla Tihista, was seated by acclamation and no levy was asked for.

Opheim didn't request a mill levy either, but they would like to have had some school board candidates for the two open seats. The board has been short one member all this school year and another term just expired. The district could face great difficulty with two unfilled seats.
