Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Ronie W. Shumway

Heaven got a very Special Man on Friday, April 19, 2024. Ronie W. Shumway, age 81, passed away at Billings Clinic, Mont., with his wife by his side.

At the request of Ronie, no services will be held.

Ronie W. Shumway was born on Jan. 18, 1943, to Frank and Vera (Marmon) Shumway in Wolf Point, Mont. He attended and played sports at Wolf Point Public School where he graduated in 1963. Right out of school his cousin George and him went and enlisted in the Navy.

After he was discharged from the service, he decided to go MSU in Bozeman, Mont., to pursue a teaching degree in Math. While going to school he there he met his wife, Linda. Dec. 18,1971 they were married in a small ceremony.

In 1972, they ended up in Glasgow and he taught math at Glasgow High School until he retired. After retirement he ended up going to Mountain Village, Alaska, for six months. He enjoyed it up there and learned a lot about their culture while he was there.

When it came time for him to leave the people were sad to see him go. Once back in Glasgow he got a job with Montana Department Transportation and worked there for 20 years and retired in 2023.

He was everyone's teacher, I am sure, at some point. From math, drivers education, and as a coach he gave a lot of his time to students. Any time a student would say "I can't do this," he would make the time to work with them. Failing wasn't in his vocabulary. There is truly not enough space or words to describe him. He was truly an amazing Man to so many people and will be deeply missed.

Preceding Ronie in death are his son Tyrel; parents Frank and Vera; brother Gary; brother-in-law Richard Waite; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors are wife, Linda and her Bestie Pam Johnson; son Shane (Kaela) Shumway; daughters Kera (Tyler) Towner and Kala (Michael) Pedersen; granddaughters Taytum Shumway, Shalynn, Avery, and Riley Pedersen; grandsons Eyyn, Haydyn Shumway, Hunter Towner, and Tripp Schmidt; brother Craig (Missy) Shumway; baby sister Renee Waite; and numerous aunts, uncles, a niece, a nephew and cousins.

Condolences for the family may be left at bellmortuarymontana.com.
