Nashua Boys Third, Girls Fourth at Jean Dreikosen

The Nashua boys scored 79 team points to take third place at the Jean Dreikosen Memorial Meet April 20 in Glasgow. The boys set nine new personal records and on season record. The girls placed fourth with 46 team points. The girls set five new personal bests.

BOYS

Charlie Kaasa placed fourth out of eight in the 1600 meters with a personal best 5:43.1. He won the 3200 meters, beating four others, with a new personal best 11:55.9. Jackson Abern set a personal record in the 300m hurdles at 53.5 to take fourth out of six runners.

Abern, Kaasa, Grady Nielsen and Bubba Pugh combined for a 54.4 int eh 4x100 relay and claimed second out of three teams.

Nielsen led the Porcupines in the shot put, taking second out of 15 with a season best 38'9.5 throw. Damon Adkins took 10th with a personal best 29'7.

Nielsen took third in the discus out of 23 at 115'7.5, a personal record. Adkins took 10th at 90' 11.5.

Adkins took third in the javelin out of 19 with a 129'4 throw. Pugh threw 105'8 for ninth place while Kaasa set a personal record at 66'7 and finished in 16th place.

Abern cleared a personal best 5'0 in the high jump to tie for fourth place out of five jumpers.

Pugh won both the long and the triple jump. In the first, he jumped a personal best 17'11.75 and in the latter put up a 38'1 distance. Abern took fourth in the long jump out of 15 competitors with a 16'11 distance. He set a personal record in the triple jump at 36'0 to finish second out of six jumpers.

GIRLS

Katey Dykstra won the 100 meters with a personal best 13.4, beating 14 other runners. She took second out of six in the 200 meters at 28.5, a personal record.

Dyllan Bergstrom took second in the 1600 meters out of six with a personal best 6:53.4. She ran a 20.7 in the 100m hurdles to take third out of four. Bergstrom also placed third, out of four, in the 300m hurdles with a 1:02.6 time.

Dykstra cleared a personal best 4'0 in the high jump to tie for fourth place. In the long jump she put up a 12'2 distance for fifth out of 12 jumpers. Bergstrom jumped 10'1.5 for 12th place. Dykstra took fourth out of four in the triple jump at 28'9, a personal best.

Nashua's underclassmen were scheduled to attend the Scobey Froshmore Meet April 23 in Wolf Point but results were unavailable at press time.

Thursday, April 25, the Porcupines will be in Lambert for the R&L Invitational. The following day, Friday, April 26, they will compete at the Whitewater Invitational. The 42nd Annual Norm Girard Top 10 Meet is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, in Glasgow.
