Law Enforcement Report

For the week of Feb. 19 through 24, there were 10 motor vehicle stops and one report of a loose dog.

Monday, Feb. 19

1815 – Caller asked if there was someone with the fire department who he could speak with in regard to the inside of a wall smoldering. He stated he was doing some electrical repairs at the address. When he touched the power to the box it sparked and it set the inside of the wall to smoldering. There are no flames. Fire Command will go over with a device that can read the temperature of the inside of the wall.

2117 – Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office dispatch advised they had a pursuit heading in the direction of Valley County. Two units were advised. Units were advised the male attempted to drag a girl to his car. When LE arrived on scene the individual fled the scene. At 2113, RCSO called back to advise they have the suspect in custody.

Tuesday, Feb. 20

1328 – Reporting party called to advise there is a camper van parked the wrong way on the street by his property. Officer arrived who advised the vehicle appears to have been abandoned and he has it marked to be towed. Officer also advised he is going to come out and look if it is still there tomorrow.

1651 – Reporting party called wanting an officer as someone has broke out his driver’s side window. An officer advised that it either someone broke it or it was broke by a rock. At 1706 the reporting party called back wanting to talk with the officer about possible suspects.

2144 – A public assist call was recorded. A deputy advised the driver wouldn’t wake up. A few minutes later the deputy advised he was able to wake up the driver. The driver had just pulled off the road to take a nap.

Wednesday, Feb. 21

1249 – Reporting party called and said someone broke into her house and stole her stereo as well as one of the speakers. She said the latch on the back door is broken and she thinks her son is the one who broke in.

Thursday, Feb. 22

0747 – Caller reported an accident. The vehicle is down the embankment. She wanted to know if she should go check to see if anyone is injured. Dispatch advised if she can do so safely that would be fine. As she started to go down, she saw someone getting out of the vehicle. She stated there is only one person in the vehicle and they are out now, walking around. She provided a description of the vehicle. At 0801 a female caller reported the same and provided a more accurate description of where the accident was. She also stated there are a couple of people in the vehicle and provided a different description of the vehicle. She also stated there are several other vehicles stopped at this time. An officer was notified and was informed since dispatch was receiving slightly different information on occupants, medical would be paged. A wrecker was requested based on the circumstances of the accident.

1208 – Caller reported a gas drive-off in the amount of $57.50. A description of the vehicle was provided. An officer was notified who made contact with the registered owner.

1229 – Officer had dispatch run an individual for warrants. He came back with a Federal warrant from the US Marshal Service and Federal Probation. Officer called to advise the warrant is confirmed and they do want him. Officer initiated the stop.

1636 – Caller said about five minutes ago she saw a male walking in the direction of the property however he is not allowed in the property.

1711 – Caller locked her keys in her vehicle. Numbers were provided for locksmiths.

Friday, Feb. 23

0953 – Reporting party came into dispatch lobby to report a fraudulent transaction on the company’s credit card. There were eight total transaction all listed in Florida at different companies and occurred between July 5 and 6, 2023.

1003 – A male wished to report a suspicious vehicle. He stated he dropped his wife off to work who mentioned the vehicle had been there since this morning. A description of the vehicle was provided.

1417 – Reporting party stated he believed he was being scammed. He received three phone calls from three different individuals at different law enforcement agencies, where he was given the run around. Initially it was Border Patrol called him and told him they seized a package addressed to him from Mexico. The second call was from a US Marshall and the El Paso PD. It was advised to him that there were properties in the package involved in money laundering. He was then advised to deposit money into a fund in Williston, N.D., for safekeeping. An officer was advised of the call and patched the caller through with the officer.

1552 – Caller requested an officer at a local warehouse. He stated they were broken into.

2246 – A public assist call was recorded. Everything is okay, they had a wheel bearing go out and are waiting on someone to come and help them.

Saturday, Feb. 24

0349 – A vehicle was reported to be parked on the street, blocking one lane of traffic in Oswego. No one is around. A description of the truck was provided. Dispatch asked if they should call someone out and it was stated it could wait until morning.

0922 – BNSF called and stated there is an adult male and a juvenile both wearing hoodies placing items on the tracks. There isn’t enough concern for the trains to be held up at this time. A deputy was notified and patrolled the area but hasn’t found anyone yet matching the description.

1243 – Caller reported someone broke into a washing machine where the quarters go.
