Scottie Boys Advance To Divisional Tourney

Place Fourth In District 2B

The Scottie boys posted a 1-2 record at the District 2B Tournament in Wolf Point this past weekend to advance to the Northern B Divisional in Malta as the number four seed. Glasgow opened the tourney Thursday with a 55-45 loss to Poplar, survived loser-out action against Harlem with a 42-39 win and fell 46-35 to Fairview in the consolation game Saturday.

Glasgow and Poplar held even at 12 in the first quarter before the Scotties pulled away 32-24 at the half. Poplar cut into Glasgow's lead in the third to trail 38-36 heading into the final eight minutes where the Indians outscored the Scotties 19-7 to send Glasgow to the back side of the bracket.

Cade Hudyma led the Scotties in scoring with 17 followed by Myles Yoakam with 12 and Wyatt Babb with 10 points. Toryn Richards hit for 4 and Connor Hudyma added 2 points. Babb had three assists while Connor Hudyma and Yoakam had two helpers each. Nick Solorzano had one assist.

Cade Hudyma also led in rebounds, pulling down 10. Babb had seven boards, Connor Hudyma four, Yoakam and Solorzano three, and Richards one rebound. Cade Hudyma also led in steals with two while Connor Hudyma, Yoakam and Babb had a takeaway each. Richards and Cade Hudyma both had a block.

Glasgow faced the Harlem Wildcats Friday in loser-out play and the Scotties waged a second-half comeback for the win. The Scotties trailed 9-4 at the end of one and 19-8 at the half. They outscored the Wildcats 21-13 in the third and 13-7 in the fourth for the win and a spot in the consolation game.

Cade Hudyma and Babb led Glasgow with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Richards and Solorzano scored 6 while Yoakam hit for 5 points. Richards and Solorzano led in assists with three each followed by Babb with two, and Yoakam and Cade Hudyma with one a piece.

Babb snagged 11 boards for the Scotties followed by Richards with eight and Cade Hudyma with seven rebounds. Yoakam and Solorzano had two rebounds while Connor Hudyma had one board. Richards had six takeaways followed by Yoakam with three, and Babb and Cade Hudyma, both with two steals. Cade Hudyma knocked down four Wildcats' shots while Yoakam and Solorzano had two blocks a piece. Babb and Connor Hudyma stopped one shot each.

The win moved the Scotties into the consolation game Saturday night against Fairview. The Warriors went up 10-6 at the end of the first and led 20-14 at the half. Glasgow trailed by 10 after three, 30-20, and was outscored 16-15 in the final quarter.

Babb scored 18 in leading the Scotties followed by Cade Hudyma with 8 and Richards 6 points. Solozano scored 2 and Connor Hudyma added a free throw. Connor Hudyma, Babb and Solorzano all had two assists for Glasgow while Richards had one helper.

Richards led in rebounds with eight. Connor Hudyma and Cade Hudyma both had six while Babb had four boards. Yoakam and Solorzano pulled down two each. Richards also led in steals with five. Yoakam had two and Cade Hudyma one steal. Yoakam had two blocks and Cade Hudyma stopped one Warriors' shot.

Glasgow enters the Northern B Divisional Tournament in Malta with a 10-11 record and as the number four seed from District 2B. The Scotties will face the number one seed out of District 1B, the Fairfield Eagles, at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. The tournament will run Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 22-24. All Scottie games will be carried live on KLTZ Radio.
