Scottie Girls Win Two In Final Regular Season Weekend

Enter District 2B Tourney as No. 3 Seed

The Glasgow girls basketball team closed out the regular season with a pair of wins, improving their record to 6-4, 10-8 overall. The Scotties beat the Harlem Wildcats 53-39 Feb. 9, and defeated the Fairview Warriors 40-35 the following night.

Glasgow took a 13-9 lead over Harlem in the first quarter and held it for the game. The Scotties led 23-18 at the half and 35-31 after three quarters. Glasgow outscored Harlem 18-8 in the final eight minutes for the win.

Joely Chappell led all scorers with 20 points, hitting three from downtown. Mayize Yoakam also hit three from the outside on her way to 15 points. Hayden Green scored 10 and Macy Martin 4 points while Gina Page and Tanae Baker both added a bucket for the Scotties.

The Scottie JV team won their game 40-38 led by Hannah Holinde's 17 points. Haleigh Huntsman scored 6 while Paityn Britzman and Lacey White scored 5 each. Riley Evenson-Glasoe added 4 points, Page a basket and Ava Runner a free throw.

Glasgow established a 3-point lead after one against Fairview – 11-3 – and maintained that lead the following two quarters. The Scotties carried a 16-13 lead into the half and a 29-26 lead heading into the fourth where they outscored Fairview, 11-9.

Chappell again led all scorers, pouring in 23 points with five from beyond the perimeter. Yoakam added 9, Britzman 4, and Martin and Green 2 points each.

Glasgow's JV team won their half-game, 25-20. Huntsman led the team with 7 followed by Kelbi Wesal with 6 points. Bailey Billingsley and Britzman both hit for 4 and Runner and Holinde scored 2 points a piece.

Glasgow enters the District 2B tournament in Wolf Point this week as the number three seed. The Scotties open the tournament against the host Wolves at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14. The tournament will run Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 14-17.
