Law Enforcement Report

For the weeks of Oct. 9 through 25 there were 31 motor vehicle stops, 20 accident dials/prank calls, 15 reports of loose livestock, one request for a VIN inspection, six reports of missing/lost dogs, four reports of loose dogs and one report of a barking dog.

For the week of Oct. 25 through Nov. 1, there were 11 motor vehicle stops, 13 reports of loose livestock, 11 reports of accident dials/prank calls, one report of a loose dog, one report of a missing dog and one report of a barking dog.

Monday, Oct. 16

0822 – A male reported vehicle damage to his car. He had left his car overnight Saturday and picked it up Sunday afternoon. He saw the damage and it looks as if they used the blade of a loader bucket truck to move the car. He wishes for a sheriff’s deputy to go and catch the workers while they are out here to have a chat with them. The call will be given to a deputy when they come on shift.

1125 – A female reported a truck hauling dirt and rocks. The dirt and rocks were flying from the back of the truck due to it not being covered, hitting the cars that were following. She is willing to sign a statement to what she witnessed. A deputy was advised.

1233 – An anonymous male reported suspicious activity at the residence. The individuals he is concerned about live in the basement that they rent from a female, the owner of the house. The reporting party stated the vehicles come in at odd times of night.

1553 – A male asked if dispatch had received any calls about a fire, which they had not. He was going to try and get a closer look to see if it is a fire. It was advised it is a farmer in the fields.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

0551 – Reporting party called and reported a deer ran in front of her vehicle and she hit it. A description of the location was provided. She is not injured and her pickup is still driveable with about $1,000 worth of damage.

1259 – A female called stating they have been having problems with smoke. They have had an electrician come out and he can’t find anything. He suggested they have the fire department come out and do thermal imaging. Fire arrived and found one light bulb that read hot but nothing else anywhere in the building.

1845 – A female reported accidentally setting off the alarm. She tried to reset it but doesn’t know if dispatch will still get the alarm. An officer will meet with her first before she leaves the premise.

1952 – An officer advised he’ll be out in front of a store as there’s a shopping cart he needs to push out of the road.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

0435 – ADT Security called to report an alarm. An officer arrived and everything was okay.

0521 – Reporting party called to check on his friend, who is visiting a friend in St. Marie. He said he has tried to get in touch with her but she is not answering her phone. He doesn’t think anything medical has happened, he is just worried he hasn’t been able to reach her for a couple of days. Later, the reporting party called back and stated her cousin called him and said they were texting back and forth, she is fine. He doesn’t need the welfare check to be done and thanked dispatch for their time.

0921 – A male called wanting to know how to get rid of some abandoned property that was left at his property for over a year now. He tried to get the VIN number but it’s pretty scratched up so it’s not readable.

1357 – A female called stating she has damage to her vehicle on the hood that happened on Monday at approximately 1100 hours. She states there as a truck and then two different trucks.She heard what to her sounded like BB’s hit her vehicle. She didn’t realize there was damage to her vehicle until she washed the vehicle. There are about 10 places where the hood is damaged from the debris the trucks had coming out of them. At 1437, another female called in stating she was the one driving the vehicle and she did call this in on Monday (call 1125 on Oct. 16) but never received a call back.

1430 – A female called in to report she came out to her truck and saw an egg on the windshield and door. She wants an officer to come out and look at it.

1508 – A male called stating there are gravel trucks just flying by the school. They have broke several vehicles’ windshields also. He didn’t see who the trucks belong to as there are no markings on the vehicles that he could see.

1647 – A male requested an officer. He said someone stole some gas and took off headed eastbound. He provided the name of the suspect but doesn’t have an address. The mom lives in Glasgow. A description of the vehicle was provided.

1731 – A female requested an officer. She said a female is at the mother’s residence and threatening her children. A description of the female was provided.

1924 – An officer advised there’s a semi parked in the opposite lane on Klein.

2148 – A female called regarding a semi that is parked and blocking access to her car wash. She wants the semi to move. The registered owner of the semi was contacted and he will move the vehicle.

2250 – Reporting party called stating her night manager called her to say people were back digging in their garbage bins again. The night manager told them to leave and then the people “got lippy” with him. The reporting party wants these people to leave the property.

Thursday, Oct. 19

1731 – Roosevelt 911 said they received a complaint about the gravel trucks in Lustre. They’re dropping gravel and leaving a mess.

1830 – A male said he’s calling for his sister. He said the sister wants dispatch to read the messages she sent on Messenger Facebook. He was patched up to an officer and officer will go to her residence and see if she’s home to speak with her there.

1950 – Caller reported a fire at the Oswego dump. The caller said the edge of the container is burning, possibly wood. Nashua Fire Department Chief requested to have LRFD bring a tender truck.

2133 – A male reported there’s a big white package with orange writing inside the lobby. He’s not going to go near it and he will wait for an officer. An officer later advised he will attempt to call a female and let her know she may have left a package in the lobby.

Friday, Oct. 20

0145 – A motor vehicle accident was reported. The car is driveable and the deer is on the north side of the road.

0741 – A female called in on 911 stating there is a vehicle that was blinking his lights, waving his arms and even swerved at her in his vehicle. She was pulled over when telling this to dispatch. She then stated he is running toward her vehicle now, yelling. Dispatch advised her to leave right now and will get an officer en route to the location. She stated several times she had no idea what was going on. It was determined the other driver was trying to flag down a vehicle but she “took off.” The vehicle ran out of gas so the driver was going to be back with gas soon.

1114 – Deputy advised the eviction notice was served. The resident was not there so they had to move some things out and the eviction notice was placed. It states if she wants to get the rest of her things out she will have to contact the landlord to do so.

1158 – A female called to report she just backed into a vehicle. She damaged the front passenger light and did damage to her bumper also. An officer advised the accident exchange form has been filled out and given to both parties.

1201 – BNSF called stating the crossing arms are down and there is no train. They have techs en-route to get this fixed.

1530 – A female requested an officer. She said a neighbor is stealing their electricity. She can’t unplug the cord because they have a pit bull. It was advised the owner of the house is in Billings and it was determined no permission was given to use the electricity.

1550 – Received a 911 hang up call and then immediately received another call from the same phone number. The caller reported that a woman broke her window screen and entered her residence without permission, then tried to beat her up. The woman left and a description of vehicle was provided.

1750 – Officer advised there were some cones knocked over in the construction zone. He is going to set them up again.

2006 – Caller said she’s out for a walk and saw an orange light in front of a commercial building. She thought she should report it in case it’s an alarm. It was determined to be an outside light that is flickering.

2013 – A deputy advised a vehicle hit a deer. The vehicle is still driveable but the deer was not able to be located.

2245 – A female said she’s not home now but she locked herself out of her residence and she will need someone to unlock the door in the morning. She was provided with phone numbers for the locksmiths.

Saturday, Oct. 21

0053 – Reporting party reporting a dog bite they had treated some hours ago. The dog is vaccinated and it appeared to be an unprovoked attack. The ER has the information about all parties involved.

0828 – Received a 911 call that was static and difficult to understand. Dispatch was able to receive the location, name and call back number to pass along to Roosevelt County Dispatch. RCSO dispatch advised they received an iPhone emergency call stating he wrecked his car.

1140 – A male stated in about an hour they will be crossing the location with about 350 herd of red cows. They have individuals who will be helping with traffic control but wanted the sheriff’s office to know as well.

1242 – A male requested to speak with an officer to see if he is allowed to own a firearm. An officer was advised who referred the caller to Fish and Game to answer his question.

1524 – A female reported an employee that is working in St. Marie, driving a company vehicle sped past her kids playing outside and hit them. She is concerned for the kids’ in the area and wishes for him to be spoke with about safety.

1957 – Male reporting party called and said his son and wife are on the lake a couple of miles from their campsite. The boat motor won’t start. He didn’t know where they are. Dispatch advised him to call them and have them call 911 to map. Phillips County was notified.

2022 – Reporting party called about his ex-girlfriend being drunk and with a minor. It was hard to understand him with kids crying in the background. An officer stated he spoke with the reporting party. The reporting party said he is on probation and his relationship with her is ending. She was trying to start trouble. She left the residence.

2100 – The reporting party found a fanny pack in the parking lot. The name was provided on the license found in the fanny pack.

2329 – Per an officer, a male flagged him down as his phone is dead. He has had his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend chasing him around town tonight. He is threatening to fight him.

Sunday, Oct. 22

1854 – Reporting party would like to speak to an officer. Dispatch asked several times for what and the caller wouldn’t say. A deputy was contacted who found out the reporting party wanted a ride into Glasgow. She was told the Sheriff’s Department is not taxi service and if she has criminal activity to report then call. The caller did not seem to be under the influence.

2058 – Reporting party stated two planes are reporting someone pointing lasers at them from a point southwest of Fort Peck on the large finger points out into the lake. McCone County was notified to watch for this if they have anyone in the area.

Monday, Oct. 23

0710 – A male reported there is a crippled deer in the ditch. A deputy was notified of the call and attempted to call the male but was tied up with other calls.

0827 – A female reported she hit a deer between Nashua and Frazer. She is not sure how far she is from either town. She is not injured and the vehicle and deer are off the road. She stated she isn’t sure if her vehicle is driveable or not but stated that to be safe her boyfriend is coming to tow the vehicle to an auto body shop.

1237 – A female reported a student walked out of the building on Tuesday or Wednesday. She stated they did not have school on Thursday and Friday so it was not reported until today. The caller was advised to call the Sheriff’s Office. Wednesday night video surveillance caught someone rifling through the garbages at the school and the caller believes the student may be involved.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

0745 – A dead cat was reported on the railroad tracks. An officer advised he moved the cat to the east side of the road.

0929 – A female called stating she just saw a male subject, whom she saw yesterday out walking by her garbage can. He walked across the street to where her garbage can is, then just turned around and walked back down the street. A description of the male was provided. She thinks he may be stalking her. At 0944, an officer advised he spoke with the reporting party and patrolled the area. The officer was unable to locate the subject and advised the reporting party to call back if she sees him again.

1333 – A female called stating there was a customer that came in the store and tried to pick a fight with another employee. Staff would like an officer to come out. An officer advised he spoke to the manager and they would like the male trespassed from the store.

1752 – Fish and Game said he received a report of a deer that’s hung up in a fence with a broken leg. He wanted to let us know that he’s en-route and may get a report of a gun shot.

2042 – A male reported there’s a doe and fawn in a field on the Glasgow side of Sullivan Park. He said the fawn has a broken leg. He said the officer can call him if they need to.

Wednesday, Oct. 25

0651 – A female reported a car that is out past an electric pole. It has been there for awhile because there are no tracks leading up to it. The car’s light are flashing. The reporting party stated she could not stop because there was a school bus behind her. At 0724, deputy advised the vehicle has no damage to is as it did not hit anything when it slid off the road. The vehicle occupied. Deputy did make contact with the registered owner.

0749 – A male called is stating a school bus has spun out. It is in a bad spot as you can’t see it as you are coming around the corner. A few minutes later an officer advised the bus driver was able to get ahold of Thompson and Son’s wrecker service.

0800 – A male advised he was turning onto Scottie Pride Drive from Highway 2 when he slid into another vehicle. There are now pulled off. There are no injuries.

1108 – A male advised that a local company is moving a large tractor on US Highway 2 about one mile west of Nashua, headed eastbound. He reported the machinery on the highway is a hazard due to the road and weather conditions. He states people are unable to go around them but they are also unable to stop in time when they come upon them. He would like someone to talk to the company about the hazards of moving machinery I this weather. The machinery is flagged appropriately.

1258 – Officers advised they would be out at a residence doing a probation check with probation officer.

2008 – A warrant was served in the county however negative contact was made.

Thursday, Oct. 26

0842 – A female called stating there is a male that lives across from her. He is screaming and yelling. She believes there is some sort of mental issues. Officer responded and everything was okay, the male even gave him a hug before leaving.

0912 – A male requested MT DOT to sand the hill. He states trucks are having a hard time getting up that hill. MT DOT in Wolf Point was relayed the information.

1134 – A female called requesting the city come sand 2nd Ave S.. They have had many people come in and tell them, as well as they have seen, people slipping trying to cross the street. Glasgow City Street Department was notified and the information was relayed. It was advised they will be out tomorrow morning to blade the street.

1205 – A male called in stating he was coming down Hwy 438 and it is very icy. He is driving a semi and the truck got away from him. He is stopped now but is in the middle of the road and anyone coming over the top of the hill would not see him right away. He is afraid because of the ice they will not be able to stop and could cause an accident. He stated he did call the highway department about this. MT DOT in Wolf Point was notified again, as well a Highway Patrol for traffic control.

1428 – A female advised she was in an accident. She was only going about 20 miles per hour when she slid off the road and hit a tree head on. She is not hurt but the airbags did deploy. Deputy arrived on scene who stated the vehicle is pretty well wedged into the tree.

1455 – A male reported a small SUV with a female occupant who went off the road. It was later advised it was a slide off and there’s people on scene trying to get her out.

1516 – Deputy requested DOT be notified to sand US 2 about a ½ mile east of Watley. Glendive DOT was notified.

1718 – An officer requested a card be started for an assault that happened at noon.

1743 – A male reported there’s about seven kids with sleds getting ready to slide near Candy Cane Park. He’s afraid that someone will get hit. An officer was notified. At 1747, he called back stating there are only three kids left sledding. At 1753, he called again stating all the kids left. He spoke with the last group of kids and warned them about the dangers of sledding near the roads.

1801 – A male said at 1605 he hit the pickup in front of him. There are no injuries.

1812 – A hospital nurse said a female is in the ER and needs a ride back to her vehicle. A deputy was notified who stated he will head that way. Later another hospital staff member called back stating to cancel the ride as one of the doctors will give her a ride.

1819 – A female reported her ex-husband and her son rolled their side by side. Nobody is injured but they are stuck out there. Search and Rescue members responded and at 2229, the men were located.

Friday, Oct. 27

1306 – A female requested an officer for a motor vehicle accident that just happened. There are no injuries.

1648 – Amtrak said they have a train that stalled about 15 minutes west of Glasgow. They are pushing the train back to Glasgow but the depot won’t hold that many people. They need to find shelter for 101 people and transportation. After Police was notified, it was determined the Cottonwood will take the passengers but they still need transportation. Transit was contacted to help with the transportation. At 1718, officer advised he spoke with the original caller. They were able to get the train up and running partly. They will turn around and go to Havre to get the train replaced. They won’t be coming to Glasgow.

2232 – Caller reported that a pickup just went by at a very high speed and was spinning out. A description of travel was provided but not the vehicle.

2256 – A male hit a coyote in Phillips County. He called 911 and was told to stop by a LEC to pick up a white form.

2306 – Deputy moved a deer to the north side of the highway at the mile marker sign. Local MDT office was notified.

Saturday, Oct. 28

0926 – A female reported a motor vehicle accident on the east side of Hinsdale. She stated she knocked down a light pole onto her car. There are no injuries. A description of the damage to the vehicle was provided. Hinsdale Fire and wrecker were contacted. At 1036, a male called stating a deputy notified him his trailer was pushed 20 feet into the shrubbery on this call but there was no damage. The male had a friend check it out as he is in Billings, and there is damage.

1111 – A female requested a officer for assistance with a patient in the room. A few other calls were made from the hospital requesting assistance with the patient.

1158 – A male reported there are hunters straddling the white line. They are impeding traffic and it is a safety concern. A description of the vehicle was provided.

1313 – A male reported a motor vehicle accident. He was hit by other vehicle. The other driver pulled off to the gas station and the caller’s car is still on the highway in the westbound lane. There are no injuries.

1432 – A male entered the dispatch lobby reporting harassment and threats on the road. He was driving down the county road at 5 MPH when the guy who was running the cannon told him to slow down. The male guessed that was because there was a woman and kid with a sled.. However the man running the cannon began to get angry and told him to step out of the vehicle, which he did and brought the cane out for support. The guy made a comment about the cane being a gun, and the guy was harassing and threatening him as well as using filthy language, even in front of the woman and the other kids who were there. An officer was notified.

1508 – A male requested cops because there was a belligerent person there. As dispatch began to advise a deputy about the call, the individual disconnected before any further information was provided.

1748 – A male reported he shot the wrong sex of a deer. He shot a buck instead of a doe and is wondering who he should speak to about this. Dispatch advised FWP hotline of the call and they will have a game warden notified.

2210 – Reporting party stated noise is coming from the middle unit, it sounds like music and kids running around, knocking stuff over. He went to move his wife’s car and a female took off so he isn’t sure who is there with the kids. An officer was notified and it was determined the babysitter and the child were playing some music and jumping around.

Sunday, Oct. 29

0005 – Reporting party stated they have having a cleaning crew at the school and they don’t know the alarm codes. Alarm calls might be received from the alarm company and to tell them what the deal is.

0506 – Reporting party stated a vehicle with Texas plates parked at the rest area entrance. But they are sticking out halfway into the westbound lane.

0810 – Hospital requested assistance from an officer. They just need to do some routine assessments and give him his food. An officer was notified.

1154 – A male stated his vehicle would not drive forward but it would drive in reverse. He was wondering if he would be allowed to drive the vehicle in reverse from the location if he had someone flagging him. An officer was notified and the officer stated the male would have to tow the vehicle.

1745 – A male asked how to go about getting a no contact letter against his ex. She has been texting and calling to get property back but he can’t deliver it to her because he is not supposed to left anything. He blocked her on everything as well. Before that, she has threatened to contact him through a different phone number. A deputy spoke with the reporting party.

2004 – A deputy reported a dead deer. A message for DOT was left.

Monday, Oct. 30

1108 – A female reported an older pickup sitting at their approach. The vehicle has been there for about 10 days now and they don’t know who it belongs to. The pickup is blocking the gate so they cannot get to the pasture. A deputy advised he has called the three numbers for the registered owner but they have all been disconnected. A tribal officer is attempting to figure out who the person is.

1157 – A male stated there is a van sitting in front of their dumpsters. He was thinking it may possibly be broken down but was wondering if he can be moved by at least 20 feet. While on the line, it was advised the owner came and retrieved the vehicle.

1328 – A female reported a breaking and entering. She believes it happened sometime between Tuesday and Thursday, most likely on Wednesday. The processing barn has a new lock recently put in and there are now scratches on it. The door was locked and when she found it, it was unlocked. When she went inside the only items she could see and prove that were tampered with were the box of ear tags. She said they were moved from one box to another. A deputy arrived who advised the reporting party wishes for the incident documented.

1614 – When dispatch answered the phone, the caller said “I need emergency; a guy had a cardiac arrest.” When asked for the caller’s name he said “James Bond” and hung up. The location didn’t show and the caller had a foreign accent. Dispatch called the number back and the female who answered said she’s with a shelter in New Britain, Conn. She said nobody from their location called and she explained that someone has been spoofing their phone number.

2111 – A male reported that a female locked herself out of her home. Numbers for local locksmiths were provided.

Tuesday, Oct. 31

0848 – A female reported a deer in the south side ditch that has been hit and injured. She stated the deer is not a hazard but should probably be put down. FWP was notified.

1121 – A male advised they have a single tractor on fire that is close to some buildings. At 1146 it was advised the fire is contained and they are in mop up now.

1224 – A male called in stating there is a pick up truck that has been parked in their lot off and on for three to four weeks and now it has been there at least a week without moving. An officer was notified who will talk to the registered owner.

1506 – The male reported that on May 2, 2023, he sighed a contract with a home build owner to do some work at his residence. He stated the male requested him to pay about half up front, roughly $6,100 but after he was paid he has not shown up to do the work nor has he brought any materials to their place. The male advised they have the contract in hand and all of the male’s contact information. In June the male state he hurt his knee and then he had a family emergency, which is understandable but now the owner is not responding to his texts.

1624 – A male called in sating a male has been driving around through the parking lot for about 10 minutes now. He will go slow and hen speed up. He has almost got into an accident a couple of times. A description of the vehicle was provided.

Wednesday, Nov. 1

0112 – Reporting party called and said the involved parties are very drunk and they are fighting with each other. VCSO was contacted and asked for tribal officer to be sent. A minute later the reporting party stated they have all settled down and doesn’t want an officer to come. A deputy still arrived who spoke with both parties and it was just a verbal altercation. Both parties have separated for the night.

1023 – A female requested someone to stand by while a provider does an evluation on the patient. She stated it might take a little bit. A deputy was notified.

1042 – A female stated her vehicle is broken down. It’s off the road and not a hazard. She is looking at getting it moved today.

1223 – An alarm was reported and all internal communication with the business has been lost. An officer was notified and the security company was contacted.
