Glasgow Scotties Track & Field

The Scottie track and field team hit three events last week: the Norm Girard Top Ten, the Gene Nelson Memorial and the Sidney Invitational.

Glasgow hosted their annual Top 10 meet May 2 (see 1B for results) before sending their pole vaulters to Wolf Point for the Gene Nelson Memorial May 5 where the girls scored 26 points for eighth place and the boys took ninth with seven team points. The Scotties traveled to Sidney May 6 where the boys won the meet with 112 points and the girls took second with 101 points, behind Plentywood’s 108.33 points.

The Scotties sent Eve Stone, Kira Beck, Mayzie Yoakam, Emily See and Kolbi Ross to compete in the girls’ pole vault in Wolf Point while Lane Thompson, Adam Michelson, Malin Beck and Nick Solorzano competed in the boys’ event.

Stone won the girls’ vault after clearing 10-06.00 while Beck and Yoakam claimed second and third, respectively. Beck vaulted 8-06.00 and Yoakam cleared 8-00.00. See vaulted 7-06.00 to take fifth while Ross finished in eighth place with a height of 6-06.00.

Thompson cleared 11-06.00 to take fourth in the boys’ vault. Mickelson’s personal best vault of 9-00.00 earned him fifth place. Beck also set a personal record – 7-06.00 – and finished in sixth place. Solorzano did not register a height.

In Sidney on Saturday the Scotties set 40 personal records and six season records. The girls set 18 personal bests and four season records while the boys posted 22 personal records and two season best performances.

Five of the boys’ personal records came in the 100 meters where every runner bested their previous time.

Toryn Richards ran a 12.06 for 11th place. Kyler Whitman’s 12.19 put him in 13th followed directly by Wyatt Babb in 14th at 12.20. Connor Hudyma took 22nd with a time of 12.50 while Dillon Hughes ran a 13.27 for 33rd place.

The girls set two personal and one season records in the same event. Gina Page won the 100 meters at 13.54 while Joely Chappell took second with a personal best 13.58. Kaylly Turner finished in 10th at 14.38 with Ava Lloyd taking 11th with a season best 14.41. Haylly Turner ran a 15.57 for 25th place and Lacey White ran a personal best 16.74 for 30th place.

Hughes and Andrew Linder both set personal bests in the boys’ 200 meters. Hughes ran a 26.58 for 16th while Linder finished in 25th with his time of 29.00. Page and Abigail Kulczyk each set a personal best in the girls’ race. Page took second with a time of 27.17 while Kulczyk ran a 30.53 for ninth place.

Piper Johnson took second in the girls’ 400 meters, circling the track in 1:05.27. Hudyma ran the boys race in a personal record time, 56.93, for fourth place. Rex Monson took sixth at 58.17.

Emily See placed second in the girls’ 800 meters, turning in a personal best time of 2:28.03. Kyler Holinde won the boys’ race with a season best time of 2:09.98. Teammate Tavin Boland took second with a time of 2:13.32 with Reed Larsen coming in fourth with a time of 2:14.54.

Holinde also won the boys 1600 meters, finishing in 4:50.26 with Larsen claiming second at 4:56.79. James Seekins ran a 6:18.90, a personal best, for 14th place. Malin Beck took 16th with a time of 6:37.32. Kimber Dulaney claimed second in the girls’ distance race, running a 6:15.24. Haleigh Huntsman claimed fifth with a time of 6:21.95 while Kheyerah Biilger set a season record and finished seventh at 6:40.42.

Tanae Baker ran a personal best 11:42.97 to win the girls’ 3200 meters. Huntsman, Dulaney and Bilger also set personal records in the run. Huntsman took sixth place with a time of 12:59.78 while Dulaney ran a 14:00.90 for ninth place. Bilger took 12th with her time of 14.54.63.

Larsen and Holinde set personal records in the boys’ 3200 meters. Larsen finished second with his time of 10:20.43 while Holinde ran a 10:32.87 for third. Seekins placed 12th with his time of 14:07.02.

Khye Gamas set a personal record and finished second in the boys’ 110m hurdles, running a 17.33. He won the 300m hurdles at 43.74.

K. Beck took third in the girls’ 100m hurdles, running a 19.14. Yoakam ran a 21.58 to take 10th and Ross placed 11th with a time of 22.26. K. Beck placed ninth in the 300m hudles at 57.45 and Ross ran a 1:02.05 for 11th place.

The Scottie boys 4x100 relay team took second place. Gamas, Richards, Babb and Whitman ran a 46.75 while the girls team of Chappell, Johnson, K. Turner and Page ran their race in 55.06 for fifth place. In the 4x400 relay, the Glasgow girls – Lloyd, H. Turner, Bilger and K. Beck – took third with a time of 4:56.02 while the boys – Gamas, Thompson, Holinde and Larsen – ran a 4:43.41 for ninth place.

Yoakam set a personal record and finished eighth in the girls’ shot put with a distance of 29’3.5. Hannah Holinde took 10th with a throw of 29’1. Kulczyk’s personal best throw of 24’3.5 earned her 30th place while Emma Whitmer had a 24’0 toss for 31st place. Myli Swindler finished 37th with a throw of 21’0.

Hudyma led the Scottie boys in the shot put, taking seventh with a personal record 38’0. Babb also set a personal best – 35’1 – and finished in 12th place. Monson placed 18th with a distance of 31’10. Hughes set a season record with a throw of 30’5 for 26th place. Connor Whitmer threw 27’2.5, a personal best, to finish in 33rd place. Mason Swenson’s 25’6 put him in 37th place while Braxton Potter finished in 40th with a toss of 24’2.5.

H. Holinde was first among the Glasgow girls in the discus, taking 21st with a personal best throw of 72’5.5. E. Whitmer threw 66’11 for 26th followed directly by Kulczyk who hit a personal record at 66’7. Swindler earned 33rd with a distance of 60’10.25 and White took 39th with her 48’3 throw.

Miller took second in boys’ discus, throwing 138’8.5. Hudyma, Myles Yoakam and Babb cracked the top ten, taking eighth, ninth and tenth respectively. Hudyma had a distance of 116’1, Yoakam hit a personal best 115’5 and Babb threw 109’9. C. Whitmer’s personal record throw of 89’7 put him in 20th while Linder took 24th with a distance of 83’10. Swenson threw 76’1 for 29th place. Potter took 32nd with a throw of 72’5.

Miller also claimed second in the boys’ javelin, throwing 147’4. My. Yoakam threw 107’9 for 11th place and Noah Runner took 21st with a 92’0 throw.

E. Whitmer set a season record and led the Scottie girls in the javelin with a 21st place finish, throwing 66’10. Phyllis Greabear took 25th with a throw of 65’7, followed directly by White with a 64’4 throw.

Whitman was the only Scottie to compete in the high jump, setting a personal record of 5’6 and taking fifth in the boys’ competition.

Stone cleared 9’6 to take third in girls’ pole vault followed by K. Beck’s 9’0 vault for fourth and Ma. Yoakam’s 8’6 personal record for fifth. Ross also set a personal record, at 7’0, and took eighth place. Thompson took third in the boys’ vault with a personal record 12’0 height.

Whitman set a personal record and finished sixth in the boys’ long jump with a distance of 17’8. Runner also set a personal record, 17’0, and finished in 10th place.

Chappell’s personal best jump of 15’2.5 earned her fifth in the girls’ long jump. Stone took 10th with a 13’8.5 jump and H. Turner jumped 12’8 for 17th place. Kulczyk’s season best jump of 11’6.5 put her in 26th place.

Ma. Yoakam took second in the girls’ triple jump with a personal best distance of 34’9. Chappell also set a personal record, taking fifth with a 32’11.5 leap. Johnson took 10th with her 28’3.75 jump.

Richards led the Scottie boys with a fifth place finish and a personal best 37’1.5 performance in the boys’ triple jump. Monson took ninth with a 33’10 distance.

The Scotties will host the District 2B/3C Track Meet this Saturday, May 14. Competition begins at 9 a.m. at Scottie Field.
