38th Annual Norm Girard North/East Top Ten Meet

The best of the best of Northeast Montana's track and field athletes were in Glasgow May 2 for the annual Norm Girard North/East Top 10 meet. Valley County competitors took 28 medals, earning a top four finish, at the meet and set 15 personal records.

Lustre Christian's boys team took 12 medals with two athletes claiming a first-place finish and four personal records. Hinsdale's team had two podium appearances with one personal record. Nashua claimed three top four places and Opheim (as part of the Unified Scobey-Opheim team) had one podium showing and one personal record. Host Glasgow snagged 20 medals and set nine new records.

Glasgow's Eve Stone led Valley County competitors in the girls' pole vault, taking second place with a personal record height of 10'06.00. Teammate Kira Beck also earned a medal with a fourth place vault of 9-06.00, a PR. Mayzie Yoakam and Emily See, both Scotties, took sixth and seventh with vaults of 7-06.00 each. The height was a PR for See. Hinsdale's Cienna Strommen also cleared 7-06.00, finishing in eighth place.

Across the field, Nashua's Xander Pugh took second place in the boys' long jump with a distance of 20-02.25. Lustre Christian's Johnslee Pierre, Braden Ewing and Terran Joseph took the next three slots. Pierre placed third with a 20-02.00 jump and Ewing set a personal record with a 19-10.50 leap for fourth place. Joseph leapt 10-02.75 for fifth place. Glasgow's Wyatt Babb took ninth with a distance of 17-10.50.

Tia Dees earned another podium showing for Nashua, taking second in the girls' discus with a throw of 108-07. Mattea McColly took third with a personal record distance of 106-03 to give Hinsdale another top four showing.

Fellow Raider BaiLee McColly placed sixth in the girls' long jump with her distance of 15-11.50.

Glasgow's Lane Thompson finished sixth in boys' pole vault, clearing 11-00.00.

Lustre's Hambira took third in the boys' high jump after clearing 6-02.00.

Opheim's Carrie Taylor threw her javelin 118-04 to take third place and earn a medal.

Glasgow's Yoakam placed eighth in the girls' 100m hurdles, running a 17.69 while Opheim's James Landles placed sixth in the boys' 110m hurdles after finishing in 18.82.

Scottie Piper Johnson set a personal record of 1:04.51 in the girls' 400 meters and finished in eighth place while fellow Scottie Khye Gamas took third in the boys' event with a personal best time of 52.57. Lustre Christian's Hambira won the boys' race, circling the track in 51.77. Fellow Lion Joseph took fourth in the boys' 100 meters with his time of 11.97.

Lions Hambira, Ewing and Pierre took the second, third and fourth places respectively in the boys' triple jump. Hambira put up a 42-02.75 distance while Ewing hit a personal best at 42-00.00. Pierre posted a 41-02.50 jump. Opheim's Bo Anderson hit a personal best 4-5.00 for sixth place while Nashua's Pugh took seventh at 39-05.00.

Dees earned a second podium appearance with a fourth place showing in girls' shot put with a throw of 34-10.00.

B. McColly was the top Valley County athlete in the girls' high jump. She took third after clearing 5-00.00, earning Hinsdale another medal. Glasgow's Stone tied for sixth after jumping 4-10.00 and teammate Kimber Dulaney took ninth with a height of 4-06.00.

Scotties Vaughn Miller and Babb participated in the boys' discus, taking sixth and ninth respectively. Miller threw 131-09 while Babb hit a distance of 113-05.

Glasgow's Kyler Holinde won the boys' 1600m run, completing four laps in 4:49.14 while fellow Scottie Haleigh Huntsman took eighth in the girls' race with a personal best 6:07.90.

Joseph, Pierre, Ewing and Hambira took second in the boys' 4x100 relay with a time of 44.83 for Lustre Christian. Glasgow's team of Gamas, Toryn Richards, Nick Solorzano and Babb placed sixth with their time of 46.38.

In the girls' 800m run, Tanae Baker took second with a time of 2.27.68. Reed Larsen earned a medal with a fourth place finish in the boys' race. He set a personal record at 2:05.66. Fellow Scottie Tavin Boland also set a personal best, 2:12.00, to take seventh place. Hinsdale's Coy Bowman came in 10th at 2:30.61.

Glasgow's Gina Page took seventh in the girls' 200m race with a time of 27.49. Lions Hambira and Joseph took second and third in the boys' run. Hambira ran a 23.52 for second while Joseph took third with a personal record time of 23.92.

Glasgow's Yoakam took eighth in the girls' triple jump with a distance of 32-08.00.

Miller, competing for the Scotties, won the boys' javelin with a throw of 161-04. Nashua's Pugh placed ninth with his throw of 119-09.

Pierre won the boys' 300m hurdles for Lustre Christian, finishing in 42.81.

See set another personal best in her 3200m run. The Scottie took second with a time of 11:57.28. Hinsdale's Zora Holt set a season record at 13:13.70 for seventh place.

Glasgow's boys and girls 4x400 relay teams both earned second places. See, Yoakam, Johnson and Page ran a 4:14.83 in the girls' race while Gamas, Thompson, Holinde and Larsen turned in a time of 3:36.49.

All Valley County track and field teams will be participating in the District 2B/3C Track Meet at Scottie Field in Glasgow Saturday, May 14, with events scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
