Scotties Bring Home Three All-State XC Finalists

Girls Team Takes Fourth

Coach Rod Karst finished his Scottie cross country coaching career this past Saturday in Missoula at the MHSA State XC Championships. His crew brought home three All-State finishes: Reed Larsen taking sixth in the Class B boys race with Tanae Baker and Emily See finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the girls race.

The Scottie girls took fourth place out of 37 Class B schools with 148 points. They trailed Columbus, 91; Manhattan, 96, and Red Lodge, 129. Glasgow's boys team took seventh with 206 points. They finished behind St. Ignatius, 63; Three Forks, 112; Jefferson, 129; Manhattan, 156; Columbus, 164, and Joliet, 185.

Sophomore Baker paced the girls team with a time of 19:43.89 for her third place, out of 150 runners, and All-State finish, her second in as many years. Scottie junior See took fourth and her second All-State finish with a time of 19:45.79, less than two seconds behind her teammate. The Scottie junior missed last season due to a broken ankle.

Kimber Dulaney, Riley Evenson-Glasoe and Caylen Jankowski all made their debut appearances at the state meet this season. Freshman Dulaney took 38th place with a time of 22:39.20. Sophomore Evenson-Glasoe, in her first high school season, took 53rd place at 23:14.56. Freshman Jankowski was hot on her heels in 54th place with a time of 23:15.36.

Sophomore Kheyerah Bilger ran a 24:11.52 which put her in 79th place. Senior Haylly Turner closed out her high school career with an 82nd place finish at a time of 24:36.96.

Senior Larsen earned his second All-State finish this season after his first last year with a seventh place finish. This season he ran a 16:58.55 for sixth place out of 182 competitors.

Sophomore Kyler Holinde ran the course in 18:16.64 to put him in 27th place. Senior Lane Thompson concluded his Scottie cross country career with an 18:21.01 race time. He finished in 33rd place.

In his debut state cross country meet, KJ Ingram placed 53rd with a time of 18:58.88. Also making their first appearance at the state meet were sophomore Ted See and freshman Kyler Whitman. T. See took 87th place with a time of 19:49.90 while Whitman ran a 20:14.03 for 103rd place. Junior Eli Feezell finished in 110th place at 20:24.99.

Karst concludes his 27-year Scottie cross country coaching career with 25 years as head coach with seven girls State Championships, seven boys State trophies and 59 All-State performances from his athletes.
