The 2012 Homecoming nominees are Alex Page, Bryan Larson, Rachel Prewitt, and Andy Gardner. The Homecoming Queen is Laurel Wageman and Homecoming King is Greg Fewer.

An appreciation dinner honoring Jackie Bird was held at the Cottonwood last Friday. She has gone above and beyond with the St. Marie Women's Club sending care packages to our troops serving in the Mideast. Toiletries, jerky, power bars donated as well as postage money can always be used, especially around the holidays. "Thank you, Jackie!"

The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi was celebrated Sunday afternoon at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with the church's 12th annual Blessing of the Animals. Twenty-one dogs of all sizes and one cat brought their owners to the church for an outdoor service that gave thanks for the joy that animals bring to our lives.

Bill Uphaus in 2012 submitted a perfect ballot (picking all 19 games correctly) on the 45th Annual Football Contest.

In a battle for District 2B supremacy, the Malta Mustangs showed they are still the team to beat in 2B, and perhaps Class B, with a 52-0 win over Glasgow on Friday in Malta.

Kristie Grimes and Tyrel Brandt were crowned the 1997 Nashua Homecoming Queen and King.

John Britzman and Jana Lasar were crowned the 1997 Glasgow Homecoming King and Queen.

A law passed by the 1997 Legislature will limit where and how individuals can sell cars by placing restrictions on a practice known as "curbstoning," a Montana Department of Justice official said Monday.

The Glasgow City Council ratified a collective bargaining agreement with the city police at its regular meeting on Monday. The agreement gives police officers a raise of $.35 per hour per year for three years. The city and police department have until Dec. 31 to work out the exact language of the employment contract.

Alyssa Kocher, 6, was crowned Miss Junior Montana- Petite on Aug. 2 in Anaheim, Calif. Alyssa became eligible to compete in the Miss Junior America pageant after she was chosen as Miss Junior American City Queen in September 1996.

Former Vikings athlete Tiffany Solberg may be out for the season, according to her cross country coach at Jamestown College in North Dakota. Solberg, who earned All- Conference honors twice, had ear surgery late last summer and may not run this season.

Steve Aune and Jacki Doty were crowned the Glasgow Homecoming King and Queen.

Saline seep destruction already has been recorded on 2,300 acres in Valley County by only 27 producers, so most land probably has or will have it.

The City of Glasgow is something more or less than $7,500 from starting construction on their proposed new $150,000 swimming pool.

A 1953 Greyhound 41-Passenger bus was purchased for $9,500 to complement the 1957 Scotty Cruiser in school district 1, according to trustees who met last Tuesday in the junior high building.

Members of the visiting Japanese government wheat mission in the United States to negotiate the purchase of 100 million bushels of American wheat-- half of which will come from Montana-- were surprise luncheon guests, of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Monday.

Thursday, Oct. 9, 1947

City crews, using both city and hired equipment, have completed grading, shaping, and graveling of about 20 blocks of street, it was reported this week by City Engineer R. C. Fargo and B. E. Richter, street superintendent. Repair of blacktop surface streets also will continue as long as weather permits, they reported.

Lawrence (Smokie) Dunlap, who enlisted in the Navy Sept. 1 and is stationed at the naval training center in San Diego, Calif., was rated one of the five highest in his company in recent examinations, which will enable him to enter special training. He attended Opheim High School.

Blitz of Whitmore, Labrador retriever owned by G. A. Bertsch, Glasgow Breeder and Trainer, will be awarded a cup as state derby champion during retriever trials in Billings Sunday and Monday, Mr. Bertsch has been informed. He will also receive the special cup offered by the President of the Montana Retriever Association.

Glasgow Boy Scouts this week began plans to extend a helping hand across the Atlantic to families of men who perished in one of England's worst mine disasters, at Whitehaven, Cumberland, in August.
