Baker and Larsen Win in Havre

Scottie XC Teams Take Second

Reed Larsen and Tanae Baker ran away with the number one positions at the Havre Invitational Sept. 10 while leading the boys and girls teams, respectively, to second place finishes.

Baker took first in the girls race with a time of 19:30.50, outpacing 52 other runners. "Couldn't have picked any nicer weather to run in at the Havre meet," said the Scottie sophomore. She added with a reference to her setback at the Scottie red and white 1-mile opener, "Going into the race I felt physically and emotionally prepared. I went into the race with my goal to win the meet."

Havre just edged Glasgow – 32-33 – to win their home meet. Chinook finished in third with 72 points.

Emily See finished in second place, just eight seconds after her teammate with a time of 19:38.72. Kimber Dulaney ran a 22:03.54 for another top ten finish, taking eighth place. Riley Evenson-Glasoe placed 16th with a time of 24:21.40.

Coming in 20th place was Kheyerah Bilger with her 24:54.51 race time. Caylen Jankowski was right behind her in 21st place at 25:01.01, followed by Haylly Turner's 26:35.37 performance and 31st place finish.

Mary Dykema ran the race in 27:46.30 for 35th place and Eve Stone rounded out the team with a 52nd place finish in 33:29.09.

The Scottie boys also missed out on first place by a single point, trailing Havre 39-40 when all the points were tallied. Belt/Centerville earned 64 points for third and Fort Benton took fourth with 79 points.

Reed Larsen ran a 16:50.16 to lead Glasgow, working his way towards his goal of hitting the low 16s by the end of the season.

Kyler Holinde ran a 17:44.34 for fourth place out of 53 total runners and setting a personal record. "I think the meet in Havre went well," said the sophomore adding that he hopes to break his new record this week at the Scottie Invitational in Fort Peck. He continued about the Havre meet, "The course we ran on was really good – it was a golf course and flat."

Lane Thompson, back in action after battling an injury, earned a top ten finish in ninth place with a time of 19:34.71. Eli Feezell took 14th at 20:45.97 followed by Ted See in 15th at 20:45.97. Kyler Whitman cracked the top 20 with a time of 21:09.06 and 19th place.

Adam Mickelson ran a 21:16.79 for 21st place followed by James Seekins in 27th with a time of 21:59.91. Malin Beck took 334d with his race time of 23:03.02. Jordan Cook ran a 23:31.92 for 39th place followed by Owen Thompson's 24:13.83 40th place.

Dylan Hlad ran a 25:54.26 for 50th place and Vic Overbey rounded out the team in 51st place with a time of 25:58.19.

Baker, voicing what many of her teammates are thinking also, said, "I am very excited to go into the 22/23 Scottie cross country season with great competition and awesome fellow teammates. I am working toward improving my personal time at every meet." Holinde added that he is looking forward to going to the state meet this year as he also works to cut down his race times.

The Scotties host the Glasgow Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 17, at Kiwanis Park in Fort Peck. Races are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
