Scottie Girls Basketball 1-1 in Conference Games, 1-2 Over Weekend

The Glasgow girls basketball team went 1-1 in conference play this past weekend, falling Thursday in Malta 38-33 and avenging an earlier season loss against the Wolf Point Wolves 46-39 in Glasgow on Friday. On Saturday the Scotties traveled to Saco to play a non-conference game against the Mavericks where the home team ran away with the game 51-21.

MALTA

Glasgow led after one quarter in Malta, 9-7, but the M-ettes outscored the Scotties 16-9 in the second. The Scotties cut into Malta's lead in the third, trailing 29-26 heading into the final eight minutes. Malta outscored Glasgow by a field goal in the fourth to cement their conference win.

Sabrina Harsh led all scorers with 14 points. Abrianna Nielsen hit three long-distance shots and added 10 points. Carly Nelson scored 7 points, going 3-for-4 at the line and Daley Aune connected on a field goal.

Glasgow had 12 fouls in the game. Harsh and Tyann Graham were called for four each while Nielsen and Aune had two infractions a piece.

The JV girls fell by a 39-22 score.

Tatum Nyquist scored 8 points to lead the squad and Brielle Partridge added 7 points, including a three-pointer. Tanae Baker, Allie Palm and Hayden Green each scored a field goal.

Glasgow's C squad earned a 38-33 road victory in Malta.

Eve Stone scored 12 points for the Scotties and Green added 10. Baker scored 6, Macy Martin 4, Addison Young 3, Emmah Mix 2 and Piper Johnson 1 point.

WOLF POINT

In the spirit of Super Hero Night, the Scotties avenged an earlier season loss against the Wolves.

The score was knotted at 10 after one but Glasgow carried a 16-15 lead into halftime. After the break, the Scotties outscored the Wolves 10-4 in the third while each team put up 20 points in the final eight minutes.

Aune powered the Scotties with 15 points, going 5-for-8 at the free throw line. Harsh added 11 points with 5 from the charity stripe. Blaire Westby and Graham scored 6 each, Nielsen 5 and Nelson 3 points.

Glasgow played a clean game with only nine fouls, five in the second half. Nelson was called for three and Aune two. Nielsen, Westby, Graham and Harsh drew the officials' attention one time each.

The Scottie JV team also earned a home win, 42-29, with balanced scoring.

Martin, Partridge and Nyquist all scored 8 points. Baker, Aspen Stulc, and Palm added 4 points a piece. Johnson scored 3, Young 2, and Stevie Hartwell 1 point.

Glasgow's C squad fell to the Wolves 45-36.

Stone led the team with 15 points. Johnson scored 9 and Riley Evenson-Glasoe 4 points. Also scoring for Glasgow were Baker, 2; Martin, 2; Green, 2; Young, 1, and Mix 1 point.

NORTH COUNTRY

The North Country Mavericks stopped Glasgow's roll Saturday night in Saco. The score was 6-5 in the Mavericks' favor after one quarter, but the home team exploded in the second to carry a 24-7 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was a tighter affair as Glasgow put up 8 points to North Country's 10. But a strong fourth quarter by the home team saw them put up 17 points while holding Glasgow to 6.

Harsh led the Scotties with 10 points, followed by Nielsen and Nelson with 4 each. Westby and Aune scored a field goal.

Glasgow was called for 14 fouls, eight in the second half. Harsh had four infractions while Graham and Nelson had three fouls each. Aune was called for two. Nielsen and Westby had one each.

Glasgow's JV team also fell, 32-21.

Tatum Nyquist led Glasgow with 10 points. Baker, Martin, Evenson-Glasoe, Partridge and Hartwell all added 2 points and Stulc hit a free throw.

Josie Brown led the Mavericks with 10 points. Shelbi LaBrie scored 8, Cienna Strommen 7, Sammie Wisher 4, Berkley Hillman 2 and Jessica Erickson 1 point.

The Glasgow Scotties travel to Glendive Thursday, Feb. 3. Girls C squad will play at 3 p.m. followed by the girls JV game at 4:30 p.m. at Dawson Community College. The boys C squad plays at 3 p.m. followed by the JV boys at 4:30 p.n. at Dawson County High School. The boys varsity is scheduled for 6 p.m. followed by the girls varsity at 7:30 p.m., both at DCHS.

Saturday, Feb. 5, Glasgow hosts the Scobey Spartans. Senior night will be observed for band, cheer and basketball. The boys C squad game is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by JV girls at 2:30 p.m. Boys JV will play at 4 p.m. The girls varsity game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Senior Night honors will be observed after the girls game, prior to the boys varsity game at 7 p.m.
