Reds Double-Defeat Patriots

Richland County Falls by Ten in Back-to-Back Games

The Glasgow Reds hosted the Richland County Patriots in a home double-header on June 19. The Reds defeated the Patriots by a margin of 10 points in both contests, winning 12-2 and 13-3.

Glasgow picked up an early lead in the first game, bringing in nine runs in the first three innings. Kevin McDonald began the scoring streak when he hit a double in the first inning. Richland Co. managed two runs in the third inning, but were unable to score for the rest of the game.

The third inning was a big one for the home team, with the Reds putting up five runs.

Darrin Wersal was credited with the win on the mound. He pitched five of six innings, throwing 99 pitches, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. Kristian Price threw the last inning, striking out two.

At the plate, Tel Aune, John Cremer and Cale Swanson all drove in one run each while Chase Guttenberg, Bryce Legare and McDonald had two RBIs.

Kaden Fossum, Keagan Thompson, Cremer and Legare each had a stolen base in the contest.

The second game was another easy victory for Glasgow as they shut down the Patriots in five innings.

Richland Co. brought in one run in their first at-bat to start things off, but could not capitalize offensively and failed to score again until the final inning.

The Reds, however, dominated at the plate early on, bringing in six runs in the second inning alone.

Gavin Adkins was the winning pitcher with four innings on the mound. He allowed one run on two hits and struck out four. McDonald finished the game in the final inning, striking out two Patriots.

Price brought in the most runs with three RBIs, followed by Fossum with two and Aune, Cremer, Legare and Wersal all recording one RBI in the game.
