Finder Seeks Author of 2003 Letter Found at GMS

On her last day of school this year at Glasgow Middle School (GMS), Shalynn Pederson was digging through a rock pile behind the school when she discovered a piece of paper under a rock on the south side of the school.

Pederson opened the letter and found that it contained a note written nearly 15 years ago by an unknown student of GMS. The letter reads:

"Hello, this is from 2003. The current hot song is In Da Club by 50 Cent. My teacher is Mrs. Bachtold. She is a good teacher. I just got my new high-top Sketchers. They are Awesome!

"Our president is Bush. Today's date is Oct 7, 2003. It's chilly out.

"I hope whoever finds this paper is having a good day. Me and my friend are writing this in hopes that someone finds it."

The Courier spoke to retired teacher Carolyn Bachtold, but she could not say for sure which student she thought wrote the letter. At the time, she was teaching sixth grade at GMS. If the student who wrote the letter was in the sixth grade in October 2003 then it is likely they belonged to the Glasgow graduating class of 2010.

If you know the owner, are the author, or have information about the letter, please email the Courier at [email protected] or call 228-9301.
