Highlanders Compete Statewide; Spaghetti Feed Scheduled

The young Highlanders traveled the entire state this weekend, competing in Poplar, Choteau and Butte. At last count, a record 72 wrestlers are registered to compete this spring.

At the Poplar Invitational on Saturday, 33 wrestlers placed in their matches in four separate divisions.

Bantam: Tyler King- 3rd, Wheeler Damboise- 3rd, Brendan Clark- 4th, Hank Hopstad- 2nd, Cody Kuka- 1st, Ethan Engstrom- 3rd, Cade Hudyma- 1st, Jorden Barnhart- 3rd

Midget: Khye Gamas- 3rd, Ted See- 2nd, Michael King- 2nd, Riley Overvold- 1st, Wyatt Sugg- 2nd, Connor Hudyma- 1st, Jaydeen Hanshew- 1st, Noah Leckie- 4th, Andrew Linder- 4th, Grady Nielsen-1st. Novice: Carlos Gonzales- 3rd, Ethyn Schindler- 3rd, Levi Overvold- 4th, Kohl Kittleson- 1st.

At the Choteau Dual Tournament, also on Saturday, the future Scotties went 2-3, losing to Cutbank, Great Falls and Bozeman while defeating Ft. Benton & Valier. Wrestlers competing were: Kyler Hallock, Jake Kuka, Blake Overvold, Ty Kittleson, Colten Fast, Dylan Nieskens, Cooper Larson, Tel Aune, Kaden Zimmerman, Cale Swanson, Jacob Meiers and John Cremer.

Placing in Butte on Sunday were: Blake Overvold 2nd Place Novice 140, Kyler Hallock 2nd Place Novice 112, Ty Kittleson 3rd Place SchoolBoy 175, Cale Swanson 4th Place Cadet 138, and Dylan Nieskens 5th place SchoolBoy 152.

The Glasgow Wrestling Club is holding a fundraiser to help support the local youth wrestling community. A spaghetti feed and pie auction will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, 6 p.m. at the Elks.
