U19 Girls Go 3-1 Against NoDak Teams

Glasgow Outscores Opponents 28-10

Friday night was not a good night for the Lady Ice Dawgs. Facing off against the U19 girls from Bottineau, they were unable to score even a single goal. Senior goalie, Autumn Gault was able to deny 38 goals, but it wasn't enough to stop Bottineau. They managed to score six times – twice on power plays, and the game ended with a score of 6-0.

With a good nights rest behind them, Glasgow hit the ice Saturday to take on Langdon in a late morning game.

In a nearly penalty free effort, the Lady Ice Dawgs pounded their opponent and skated away with the win and a score of 10-2.

Recording the first goal of the game in the first period for Glasgow was Kennedy Schmidt off a combined assist from Baylie Chappell and Josey Uphaus.

Just a little over four minutes later, Alex Simensen found the back of the net with an assist from Schmidt. Finishing out the period, Maddy Uphaus knocked one in with some help from Amy Fuhrmann and Heidi Moon. Gault had it easy, only having to stop three pucks from going in to get a shut-out for the period.

The home team finally managed to get one past Gault early in the second period to light up their side of the scoreboard for the first time.

Before Langdon could score another goal, Glasgow would score five more times. Brett See sent one in with assists going to Madison Knodel and M. Uphaus. Teagan Fossum knocked one in with help from Simensen, and Knodel scored off of a pass from Bailee Holstein to finish the second period with a score of 6-1. Gault stopped three times as many pucks in the second period to boost her stats from 3 saves to 14.

Starting off the third period, See recorded her second goal of the game with an assist from J. Uphaus. Less than 30 seconds later, Simensen scored off an assist from Schmidt.

Langdon was able to answer with an unassisted goal, but it was apparent that the Lady Ice Dawgs would be leaving the ice with a win. Glasgow finished the game with two more goals – Fossum sent her second one between the pipes with help from Chappell and Schmidt, then M. Uphaus knocked another one in with assists going to Knodel and See. The final score of the game was 10-2 with Gault logging 17 total saves.

For their second game on Saturday, the Lady Ice Dawgs faced Park River. It was another relentless display of domination for Glasgow as they prevented their opponent from scoring, while putting 12 points on the scoreboard themselves.

Scoring a hat trick in the game for Glasgow was Simensen assisted twice by Jaycee Wixson and once by J. Uphaus. Fossum found the back of the net twice with assists from J. Uphaus and Holstein. Schmidt captured two goals with assists from J. Wixson and J. Uphaus. See scored two goals herself with assists from Holstein and Chappell. M. Uphaus scored with help from Fuhrmann, Knodel off of a pass from Holstein, and J. Uphaus from Simensen. Gault finished the game with 6 total saves.

The final game of the weekend for the Lady Ice Dawgs was Sunday morning against Mayville, who seemed to be a better match for Glasgow, but not good enough to score a win.

Glasgow's J. Uphaus scored the first goal of the game from J. Wixson just a little over a minute into the first period. Mayville answered back soon enough, sending a puck past Gault to tie the game before the end of the first period.

The Lady Ice Dawgs scored the lone goal of the second period with Schmidt finding the back of the net off of an assist from Simensen.

The beginning of the third period would be a repeat of the previous score, except it was during a power play off of a tripping penalty called on Mayville.

Simensen then assisted J. Uphaus with a goal followed by Knodel sending one between the pipes unassisted.

Mayville managed to score their second point of the contest in the third period, but Glasgow soon answered back with Simensen scoring off Schmidt. The game ended with a score of 6-2 and 19 saves by Gault.

With an unusually quiet upcoming weekend, the U19 girls will face Williston at the Valley Event Center in one game on Saturday. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
