Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Dorothy Elizabeth Taylor

Our beloved mother, Dorothy Elizabeth (Fink) Taylor, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at the age of 89.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Glasgow Evangelical Church located at 152 Aberdeen St. in Glasgow.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1926, in La Verne, Calif., to Vern and Mildred (Brooks) Fink. Through her early years she attended La Verne Elementary, Empire Junior High and graduated from Turlock High School.

One of her childhood memories was working with her mother and sister cutting apricots and peaches from the orchards in the area.

After graduating from high school, she moved to San Francisco where she attended Bible College for a year. Then she moved on to dental school where she completed training and gained employment as a dental assistant.

While in San Francisco she met her future husband, Muncie Taylor, who was in the Navy. They met at a Thanksgiving dinner that was being given for those who couldn't be home for the holidays. She followed Muncie to Glasgow, where they were married on April 3, 1953. She and Muncie had three children, Judith, David and Tommy.

In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, she spent over 35 years delivering mail as a rural letter carrier. Through rain, sleet, snow and flood waters she carried out her job. She worked in the upholstery business for several years as well to help pay Judith's tuition at the Lustre Bible Academy.

She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. For years she baked cherry pies for the Cherry Pie Day at the First Baptist Church. She attended church at the Evangelical Church since 1971, and was in the Evangelical Women's Group.

After the passing of her daughter, Judy, who was her caregiver, she moved to Helena to be closer to her son, David. She resided in Son Heaven Assisted Living and her final years were at the Shelby House. It was there that she passed away peacefully in her sleep.

She was preceded in death by her husband; infant sister; one daughter, Judy; one sister, Gladys Crane; and one brother, Chester Fink.

Survivors include two sons, David Taylor and his wife, Charla, Tom Taylor and his wife, Kim; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: The Evangelical Women's Group, 152 Aberdeen St., Glasgow, MT 59230.
