He had a passion for fishing, and remained an avid fisherman until illness forced him to stop in recent years. They named an area after him where he could always be seen fishing, called Floyd's Point, at Tobacco Gardens on Lake Sakakawea.

In the summer he also enjoyed golfing and tending to his gardens. In the winter he spent his time hunting and trapping. He was quite the trapper!

He was very mischievous as a youngster and throughout his life. He and two of his buddies were called the "Big Three" for some of their stunts. They rode their horses into a saloon once, turning over tables and drinks. He enjoyed life and people. He was known for his sense of humor, which stayed with him until the end.
