Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Robert G. Combs

Robert G. Combs, 76, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at his home in Glasgow, Mont.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1938, in Glasgow, the son of Clinton and Irene (Breikjern) Combs. He was raised in Glasgow, graduated from Glasgow High School, and served in the Montana National Guard.

On Jan. 14, 1961, he married Donna Walker in Glasgow. He worked for Johnson Plumbing, was in Minot for a year, back in Glasgow at Cenex for a year, and then served on the Glasgow Police Force for five and a half years. He then started his own business in heating, air conditioning and sheet metal work, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Flatland Cruisers Car Club with his 65 Pontiac Catalina Convertible, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends.

Besides playing cards with the guys every Wednesday, he could be found working on and restoring old vehicles. One vehicle that he completely restored-from the engine, body work, painting and the upholstery, which became his pride and joy, was his 1965 convertible. Great times were had going on road trips to car shows with others in the car club, such as Devils Lake, Glacier National Park and Helena.

He bowled for several years on leagues at El Cor Del, until his back injury prevented him from bowling. In his earlier years, he could be found at Ft. Peck Lake most weekends; camping, boating, water skiing and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers James Combs and Gene Combs.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Combs of Glasgow; two children: Michael of Nashville, Tenn., and Brenda of Nashua; five grandchildren: Kristina, David, Jennifer, Jordan and Samantha; two great-grandchildren: Abigail and Raylan; one sister, JoAnn Rosscup of Richland, Wash .; and one brother, Dennis Combs of San Diego, Calif.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, followed by interment at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
