Stanley Russell

Stanley Russell, 77, of Shelby, passed away from natural causes on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Great Falls, Mont.

He was born on June 9, 1937, in Glasgow, Mont., to Stanley and Beth Russell. He attended various Valley County country schools where his mother taught. He graduated from Opheim in 1956. He then went to Northern Montana College in Havre and later North Dakota State College of Science.

He worked in the oil fields for 8 to 10 years and then went to work for the railroad in 1967, where he was a track inspector and later as supervisor until he had to retire due to an injury in October of 1996.

He met and married his wife, Delores, in Hinsdale. They later moved to Shelby to raise their family, that include one son and two daughters. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising rabbits. Later in life he enjoyed watching TV, listening to music, working on Sudoku puzzles, reading and visiting with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Delores.

Survivors include one brother, Dennis, of Great Falls; one son, Tony, of Casper, Wyo .; two daughters, Valerie of Shelby and Elizabeth of Missoula; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at First Baptist Church in Shelby, with interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Shelby.
