Raider Boys Knocked Out

The Raiders of Hinsdale started off the 2014 divisional tournament against the Fairview Warriors and through the first quarter it was a tie ball game with Lukas Johnson getting a nice block in the first couple minutes of play. The block sent a message to the Warriors that Luke was not to be trifled with.

Hinsdale put a 10-0 run on the Warriors behind a three from Dallas Capdeville to start the second stanza and a three from Kyle Albus at the buzzer to end the half, Hinsdale up 21-15.

Fairview caught up a tad bit in the third, out scoring the Raiders 11-6 and Hinsdale still held the lead by two points after three quarters.

The wheels broke the camel’s back in the fourth however when Hinsdale, forced to foul in the late part of the quarter gave up 12 free throws to the Warriors of which they made 10.

For the Raiders Capdeville led the way with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Albus scored seven points, two rebounds and two assists. Wyatt Pattison also scored seven points while adding seven rebounds. Lukas Johnson scored six while hauling in four rebounds.

The name of this game was free throws with Fairview capping 14-17 while Hinsdale went 2-6. The final score was Fairview 43-32 over Hinsdale.

That loss put the Raiders on the left side of the brackets to face the Nashua Porcupines who had succumbed to the Culbertson Cowboys 51-41 earlier in day one.

Having beaten the Porkies twice in the regular season and once in districts the Raiders went into this game with some confidence.

Hinsdale grabbed the first quarter lead 11-5, but the Porcupines came back to take the second act 11-8 making a 19-15 half time score favoring Hinsdale.

Kyle Albus hit a pair of three’s and three deuces for 12 points and five rebounds. Wyatt Pattison had the game high tally hitting 19 points while hauling in 11 rebounds. Capdeville scored eight points and had nine rebounds. Brett Johnson had six points and three rebounds. Lukas Johnson added six points.

Hinsdale got back on the plus side with a 47-38 win over Nashua in a loser out match.

In a very slow-paced game the Hinsdale Raiders took an early one point lead over the Circle Wildcats 6-5 after the first quarter and 21-20 at halftime.

This was a hard fought contest and quite physical as the Wildcat boys are fairly good-sized rascals. Their height and length proved Hinsdale’s undoing as Circle grabbed 42 rebounds to the Raiders 24. The Raiders hit only 8-18 from the line while Circle dumped in 11-14 from the stripe.

Hinsdale played their best game turn-over-wise committing just 5 turnovers.

But it wasn’t in the cards for the boys from Hinsdale. You can expect them to advance further next year. The first six players will be seniors and 2015 will be the Year of The Raiders.

Capdeville tallied 12 points and three rebounds, Brett Johnson had seven points and two rebounds, Albus scored a couple three’s and hit for 12 points, Pattison had five points and five rebounds and Lukas Johnson had five points with three rebounds.

Final score was Circle 42-41 over Hinsdale.

And that’s the way things were for the boys in the 2014 Eastern Divisional Tournament.

That’s it for now folks. Thanks for listening.
