Glasgow Boys Take Second In District; Girls Advance As Well

Districts are over and both Glasgow teams are still standing.

On the boys side, many didn't get the end result that they wanted, a District championship, but all is well, especially since Divisonals start at Glasgow High School on Thursday.

"We can't ask for anything more," said Glasgow boys head coach Norm Braaten. "We have our own beds, our own food, a good draw."

Don't forget the Scottie faithful.

Earlier in the week, word started making its way around time encouraging Scottie fans to show up Thursday night for the "Red out" when Glasgow takes on Choteau at 8 p.m.

Braaten knows his team is in for a challenge with a first round matchup with Choteau, but that's just the way his team likes it.

"They are very talented, they really get up and down the court and have kids that can handle the ball really well," Braaten said.

To make matters worse, Braaten isn't slow to point out that Choteau has shooters as well.

"They can shoot the ball from way out," Braaten said.

As is custom with Glasgow's mentality heading into a big game like this, Braaten said that as long as his players defend the drive that they'll be fine.

"It has to be fun come this time of the year. If it's not fun, we shouldn't be playing or coaching it," Braaten said.

For the girls, Glasgow head coach Emilee Morehouse and her team has a bit of time to prepare for their Northern B Divisional in Conrad on March 6-8.

With that much practice time at her disposal, Morehouse said that all she wants to do is let the girls play.

"There's not many more drills we can do now," Morehouse said. "We're just going to let them go up and down the court and play some basketball."

Morehouse said that Glasgow's showing at Districts saw some of the best and more questionable play of her team this year.

Morehouse remains confident that her team can figure out the little things between now and Divisionals and be just fine.

"We have to play defense," Morehouse said. "Our offense is there, but we just have to come prepared on defense."
