XC Scottie Girls Nearly Perfect

Girls Win In Frazer, 1 Point Shy Of Perfect Score; Boys Place 2nd

So close. So close that it could be frustrating. The Glasgow girls cross country team dominated the Frazer meet on Thursday, Sept. 19, finishing one point short of a perfect score.

The team placed 10 runners in the top 15 for a total of 16 points. With a perfect score set at 15, the Scotties needed those few extra seconds to make history.

It was a great but “frustrating” result, coach Rob Karst said. The girls had such a great race that Karst was hoping for one of them to push harder and finish in a better position.

Some runners could not have done better than that. Once again, junior Josie Braaten took first place in 19 minutes and 29 seconds. She was followed by three other Scotties in the names of senior Rachael Zeiger (20:48), senior Amanda Wolff (20:49) and senior Emma Fewer (21:09) – second, third and fourth place, respectively.

The girls had an amazing race and showed, once again, that they are the favorites to earn a fourth state title in a row.

The boys cross country team has a great race, too, finishing second (86) behind one of the favorites Culbertson/Bainville (40).

Walker Allen was the fastest Scottie, taking ninth place in 18 minutes and 27 seconds. Not far behind was Bridger Sanders who finished in 18 minutes and 35 seconds to earn 10th place. Notice the absence of one of the Scotties top runners, senior Matthew Phillips, who did not compete in the meet.

It was another good race for the boys, whose objective is to finish in the top three at the end of the season.
